We're looking for a Lead Business Analyst (SAP) to lead Anglian Water's SAP business analysis team and play a key role in delivering complex transformation and change across the organisation.

Business analysis is critical to understanding the challenges we need to solve, defining clear requirements and ensuring new systems and processes deliver the right outcomes. In this role, you'll lead the capability supporting projects from early discovery through design, build, testing and business readiness, with a particular focus on SAP-enabled change and large-scale business transformation.

You'll combine strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, providing expert business analysis on our most complex programmes while leading and developing a team of Senior Business Analysts and Business Analysts. Working closely with programme leaders, process specialists, change professionals, product owners and Digital, Data and Technology teams, you'll ensure business needs are understood, translated and delivered consistently.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the business analysis team supporting SAP related complex change and transformation programmes across Anglian Water

  • Set clear standards for discovery, requirements management, process analysis, user stories, acceptance criteria and business readiness

  • Lead, coach and develop team members, creating an inclusive, accountable and high-performing culture

  • Develop business analysis delivery plans, resource forecasts and budgets in partnership with project and programme leaders

  • Maintain oversight of sprint planning and backlogs, ensuring priorities remain aligned to business outcomes

  • Provide clear progress reporting and escalate risks, issues and dependencies at the right time

  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, managing conflicting requirements and constructively challenging proposed solutions

  • Drive continuous improvement in business analysis methods, templates, tools and professional practice

  • Ensure excellent engagement with subject matter experts and stakeholders to understand current processes, pain points and the problems to be solved

  • Ensure functional, non-functional, technical, organisational and operational requirements are captured, validated, prioritised and clearly documented

  • Bridge the gap between business teams and technical delivery, ensuring SAP configuration and system development meet agreed requirements

  • Define user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, role profiles and authorisations for system-enabled change

  • Support testing, deployment, end-user training and business readiness activities across major programmes

What we're looking for

  • Extensive business analysis experience within complex, large-scale business transformation and IT-enabled change

  • Strong knowledge of SAP ECC6 and/or SAP S/4HANA environments

  • Proven experience leading, coaching and developing a team of Business Analysts

  • Extensive experience of requirements gathering, analysis, solution assessment and validation, process mapping and business readiness

  • Strong prioritisation and decision-making capability, with the ability to manage resources across multiple competing programmes

  • Strong stakeholder management experience at senior level, with confidence influencing programme and project leadership

  • Ability to translate complex business needs into clear functional and technical requirements

  • Excellent questioning, facilitation, communication and documentation skills

  • Experience working across Agile delivery, sprint planning, backlog management, testing and deployment activities

  • Innovative and analytical approach, with strong root-cause problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Desirable:

  • International Institute of Business Analysis certification, such as CCBA or CBAP

  • Experience of business process re-engineering and enterprise process architecture

  • Project or programme management qualification, such as MSP, APM or PRINCE2

  • Knowledge of water utilities or another regulated, asset-intensive environment

  • Understanding of IT applications, infrastructure, corporate data models and data management requirements
