Love Every Drop.

At Anglian Water, we're transforming the way we deliver services for our customers, communities and the environment. To support this, we're looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join our Performance team.

We’re looking for a structured, detail-oriented Business Analyst who can bring clarity, challenge, and insight to complex pieces of work. You’ll be confident engaging with stakeholders, understanding business problems, analysing processes, shaping requirements, and supporting delivery teams to design and validate solutions that meet real business needs.

What you'll be doing

As a Business Analyst, you'll support the successful delivery of projects through the capture, analysis and management of business and technical requirements. Acting as the bridge between stakeholders and delivery teams, you'll ensure solutions are aligned to business needs and provide clear direction throughout delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading requirements gathering activities, workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions.

  • Producing high-quality business analysis artefacts and detailed upfront requirements documentation.

  • Creating and maintaining requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Developing AS-IS and TO-BE process maps using BPMN 2.0 standards.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and deliver better business outcomes.

  • Defining and validating both functional and non-functional requirements, including security, performance, usability and reporting requirements.

  • Supporting solution design reviews to ensure requirements are fully understood and met.

  • Supporting testing, business validation and user acceptance testing activities.

  • Managing requirements throughout the project cycle in a controlled and structured manner.

  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders, architects, project managers, technical teams and business subject matter experts.

Essential experience

  • Strong experience in structured or Waterfall delivery, including detailed upfront requirements documentation and requirements traceability. Agile experience is welcome, but it should not be the candidate’s only project delivery background.

  • Significant experience eliciting, analysing, validating, and documenting detailed upfront requirements, supported by high-quality business analysis artefacts.

  • Significant experience eliciting, analysing, validating, and documenting detailed upfront requirements, supported by high-quality business analysis artefacts. Experience managing requirements throughout the full project lifecycle, including maintaining traceability and supporting controlled change.

  • Experience validating solution designs against agreed business and functional requirements.

  • Ability to work independently, manage their own workload, and bring structure and clarity to ambiguous or complex pieces of work.

  • Strong process mapping experience, specifically using BPMN 2.0.

  • Experience facilitating requirements workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions.

  • Confidence working with business stakeholders and technical/delivery teams to ensure requirements are understood, agreed, and delivered.

  • Experience defining and validating non-functional requirements, such as security, performance, usability, and reporting.

  • Experience supporting testing and business validation activities to ensure solutions meet agreed requirements.

Desirable

  • BCS Business Analysis qualification.

  • Experience working within a regulated environment where governance, assurance and documentation standards are critical.

  • Experience supporting large-scale business transformation initiatives.

  • Experience working within utility, infrastructure or similarly regulated sectors.

What's in it for you?

At Anglian Water, you'll be part of a purpose-driven organisation that's committed to innovation, sustainability and delivering exceptional service to our customers.

We offer:

  • 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with length of service)

  • Flexible working options

  • Private healthcare

  • Competitive pension scheme. Anglian Water double-matches contributions up to 7%

  • Life assurance at eight times your salary

  • Annual bonus scheme

  • Personal accident cover

  • Virtual GP service

Selection Process

As part of the recruitment process, shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a practical business analysis assessment designed to showcase their approach to requirements gathering, analysis and problem-solving.

Why apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on projects that make a real difference across Anglian Water. You'll help shape solutions from the outset, influence key business decisions and ensure successful delivery through robust requirements management and stakeholder collaboration.

If you're a highly organised Business Analyst who thrives on bringing structure, clarity and insight to complex challenges, we'd love to hear from you.
