Be a part of Anglian Water’s flagship reservoirs programme

Anglian Water is delivering one of the UK’s most strategically important infrastructure programmes, we’re building two new reservoirs to help secure long-term water resilience for the East of England; securing water supplies for our communities for generations. This is complex, highly visible delivery with significant regulatory and stakeholder scrutiny, where commercial decisions made now will define programme pace, risk exposure and value for decades.

As Commercial Lead – Third Party Agreements, you will set the commercial direction for third‑party interfaces across the Reservoirs Programme and lead the negotiations that unlock delivery. You’ll operate with senior mandate, securing agreements with statutory undertakers, local authorities and private organisations; protecting critical assets; shaping commercial models and positions; and governing risk and exposure. This is a role for a decisive leader who can move quickly, influence at the highest levels and deliver robust outcomes in a demanding, regulated environment.

What you’ll be doing

In this senior leadership position, you will:

  • Lead the commercial strategy and negotiations for third-party agreements across the Reservoirs Programme
  • Act as the principal commercial interface with statutory undertakers, local authorities and private entities
  • Shape and standardise commercial models, Heads of Terms and agreements to ensure value for money and manage long-term risk
  • Navigate complex regulatory and consenting environments, supporting the DCO process and infrastructure provider investment
  • Work closely with engineering, legal, environmental and land teams to ensure commercial outcomes are deliverable and robust
  • Provide clear, evidence-based advice to senior leaders on commercial risk, exposure and opportunity
  • Lead and develop a growing commercial team through a collaborative, accountable and high-performance culture

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for a commercial leader with:

  • Significant experience in complex commercial negotiations within major infrastructure or regulated environments
  • A strong track record of third-party agreements, asset protection or statutory undertaker interfaces
  • Experience working within DCO or consenting frameworks
  • The credibility to negotiate with organisations such as utility providers, national infrastructure bodies and private entities
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge technical, legal and commercial perspectives
  • Proven leadership experience, able to unite teams around clear outcomes and shared purpose

Why join Anglian Water?

  • Deliver nationally significant assets and leave a legacy of water resilience for generations
  • Operate at programme leadership level across strategy, risk, value and pace
  • Join a purpose-led organisation where commercial decisions are anchored in safety, integrity and long-term customer value
  • Build senior credibility on uniquely complex schemes, working shoulder-to-shoulder with leading technical, legal and delivery experts

As a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:

  • Personal private health care
  • Car allowance
  • Life assurance (up to 8 x salary)
  • Personal accident cover (up to 5 x salary)
  • Double-matched pension (maximum 6% employee contribution)
