Make every drop of your potential count!

Due to internal progression, we’re looking for new Alarm Handlers to join Anglian Water’s business-critical Tactical Operations Team, delivering a 24/7 monitoring service that underpins the safe and efficient operation of our water and wastewater assets.

This is a highly responsible, real-time operational role where you’ll take ownership of deploying and managing telemetry alarms across one of the largest monitoring systems in Europe. You’ll ensure issues are identified early, risks are managed proactively and field teams are deployed effectively to maintain service and protect our customers.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitor, interpret and manage telemetry alarms across water and wastewater assets

  • Take ownership for deployment of alarms to operational teams in line with SLAs

  • Filter and prioritise alarms to manage operational workload effectively

  • Escalate risks and incidents to Duty Managers

  • Raise and manage work orders using SAP and associated systems

  • Maintain situational awareness across the operational network

  • Act as a 24/7 contact point for internal and external stakeholders

  • Ensure critical work is verbally deployed and accepted by field teams

  • Produce reports and insight from alarm data to support performance

What we’re looking for

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure 24/7 control room environment (including days, nights, weekends & bank holidays)

  • Strong analytical and decision-making capability

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills

  • Confident communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to challenge and improve processes

  • Strong IT skills including Excel, SAP or similar systems

Desirable: Experience in telemetry, control room or operational monitoring environments. Knowledge of water or wastewater operations.

Why join Anglian Water?

In this role, you’ll play a critical part in managing operational risk across a 24/7 service, working with advanced telemetry systems and developing specialist skills through structured training and progression pathways.

You’ll benefit from our industry-recognised Licence to Operate (C&G accredited), alongside ongoing development support, mentoring and clear progression frameworks within the team. This role is a proven entry point into wider operational and control room careers — with many colleagues progressing into other specialist roles across the business.

At Anglian Water, we’re committed to developing our people and creating long-term careers, giving you the opportunity to grow your capability, build expertise in operational risk management and move forward in a business that actively invests in its talent.

Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with length of service)

  • Private health care

  • Competitive pension scheme – Anglian Water double-matches contributions up to 7% (for up to 21% combined)

  • Life assurance at eight times your salary

  • Annual bonus

  • Potential funded car allowance depending on evidenced business mileage

  • Personal medical assessments

  • Virtual GP service

  • Cancer screening

  • Financial wellbeing support and salary finance benefits

  • Lifestyle savings including discounts on retail, travel and utilities

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Volunteer days
