Director Security & Resilience Sector

The Role

A member of the senior management team within ADS, reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Director - Security & Resilience Sector will lead a strong team addressing a wide range of issues on behalf of ADS member companies, related to domestic and international business development, policy and major government programmes, research & development, technology and innovation.

The Director will also lead ADS' efforts to facilitate effective public-private security cooperation, in view of ADS' key role in promoting the UK's security industry across all relevant public and private sector partners, including other industry sectors, government, law enforcement organisations and other security agencies.

The Director will work closely with senior industrialists and government officials to maximise the security and resilience sector's vital contribution to securing growth and meeting UK national security objectives. ln addition, ADS has close links to a range of international partners and the successful candidate will work with colleagues to ensure that the UK security industry is effectively represented in policy discussions and maintains and develops its prominent profile in the global security market.

The Candidate

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated professional with UK Security Clearance at or above SC level, or the ability to obtain this clearance.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the capability to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels, with exceptional coordination, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

They will be commercially astute, understanding revenue generation through services and events, and possess strong communication and management abilities.

​A confident and clear communicator, they will be customer-focused, committed to timely delivery, and collaborative in working with colleagues, members, and partners.

The candidate should bring experience in the security and resilience sector or related commercial functions, with strategic exposure to government, industry, or international security and resilience roles.

A sound understanding of emerging challenges such as cyber threats and digital transformation is essential, alongside expertise in programme or project management.

Strong analytical, presentational, and written skills are required, as well as the ability to lead, motivate teams, and deliver innovative approaches to stakeholder issues.

Senior-level experience within government or the security industry, combined with knowledge of major programmes relevant to security and resilience, gained through public policy or business development roles, will be highly advantageous.

The Contract & Benefits

Contract; Permanent, fulltime role, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Location; Hybrid working- 3 days in the London office and 2 days from home
