Job Description

Job title: Medical Communications Senior Medical Writer
Location: London
Career Level: 9

Accenture Song accelerates growth and value for our clients through sustained customer relevance. Our capabilities span ideation to execution: growth, product and experience design; technology and experience platforms; creative, media and marketing strategy; and campaign, content and channel orchestration. With strong client relationships and deep industry expertise, we help our clients operate at the speed of life through the unlimited potential of imagination, technology and intelligence.

As a team:

Song Life are a community of scientists, strategists, creatives, technologists and problem-solvers united by a shared ambition: to improve healthcare through better communication, engagement and experiences.

What makes Song Life unique is the opportunity to work across the entire healthcare ecosystem. We don’t operate in silos. Our medical experts collaborate with creatives, experience designers, AI specialists, digital practitioners and marketing strategists to solve complex client challenges in ways that would not be possible within a traditional agency model.

We are naturally curious, relentlessly collaborative and always learning. We challenge each other to think bigger, innovate faster and bring fresh perspectives to every brief. Together, we create work that not only informs and educates but also changes behaviours, strengthens relationships and ultimately improves outcomes for patients.

Joining Song Life means joining a team that values expertise, embraces innovation and believes the best ideas emerge when different disciplines work as one. Here, you’ll have the freedom to grow your career, explore new areas of healthcare and contribute to work that makes a genuine difference.

In our team you will learn:

  • How to transform complex science into compelling content and experiences that drive understanding, engagement and action.
  • How to develop scientific narratives that work across audiences, channels and healthcare ecosystems.
  • How to work alongside strategists, medical experts, creatives, digital specialists and technologists to create integrated healthcare solutions.
  • How data, insights and evidence can be used to strengthen content strategy and audience engagement.
  • How AI and emerging technologies are reshaping scientific content development, review and optimisation.
  • How to grow from content expert to trusted scientific advisor and mentor.
  • How to balance scientific rigour, creativity and operational efficiency in an increasingly connected content landscape.

As a Senior Medical Writer you will:

  • Develop high-quality scientific and medical content across a wide range of therapeutic areas, audiences and communication channels.
  • Translate complex scientific data and clinical evidence into clear, accurate and engaging content that meets both audience and client needs.
  • Take ownership of content workstreams, ensuring scientific excellence, editorial quality and consistent delivery across programmes.
  • Partner with clients and internal teams to understand scientific objectives and help shape content approaches that maximise impact.
  • Act as a trusted scientific contributor within multidisciplinary teams, bringing together scientific understanding with strategic, creative and engagement thinking.
  • Lead the development of scientific narratives and content frameworks that create consistency and clarity across programmes.
  • Apply critical thinking to evaluate evidence, identify key insights and ensure scientific accuracy and balance in all deliverables.
  • Review and provide guidance on content developed by other writers, helping to maintain the highest standards of quality and consistency.
  • Mentor and support junior writers, sharing expertise and helping to develop scientific and editorial capability across the team.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of editorial processes, quality standards and ways of working.
  • Identify opportunities to improve content development through better use of technology, automation and AI-enabled workflows while maintaining scientific rigour and human oversight.
  • Support scientific elements of new business opportunities, contributing to proposals, content approaches and presentations.
  • Stay current with advances in science, healthcare communications and emerging technologies to continually enhance the quality and effectiveness of our work.

We are looking for experience in the following skills:

  • Significant medical communications, medical education or healthcare content development experience.
  • Strong understanding of scientific research, clinical data interpretation and evidence-based communication.
  • Experience developing scientific content for healthcare professionals and other healthcare stakeholders.
  • Excellent medical writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt style and tone for different audiences and objectives.
  • Supporting development of scientific narratives, communication platforms and educational programmes.
  • Working within pharmaceutical regulations, compliance frameworks and industry codes of practice.
  • Reviewing content for scientific accuracy, quality and consistency.
  • Collaborating effectively with account, strategy, creative, digital and client services teams.
  • Mentoring and developing more junior scientific colleagues.
  • Using insight, evidence and audience understanding to strengthen content recommendations.
  • Experience working across multiple projects and managing competing priorities.
  • Curiosity about how AI and technology can enhance content creation, review and workflow efficiency.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Set yourself apart:

  • You are passionate about turning complex science into content that is meaningful, memorable and impactful.
  • You combine scientific rigour with creativity, always looking for better ways to engage audiences and communicate evidence.
  • You are naturally curious, continually expanding your scientific knowledge and exploring new approaches to content development.
  • You understand that great content is not just accurate, but purposeful, audience-centric and connected to a broader strategic objective.
  • You embrace innovation and are excited by the opportunity to use AI and emerging technologies to enhance quality, efficiency and creativity.
  • You enjoy coaching others and helping raise the scientific and editorial standards of the wider team.
  • You are comfortable working across disciplines and collaborating with strategists, creatives, technologists and client teams.
  • You have high standards for quality but remain practical, solutions-focused and delivery-oriented.
  • You thrive in environments where learning, experimentation and continuous improvement are encouraged.
  • You are motivated by the opportunity to improve healthcare outcomes through exceptional scientific communication.

What’s in it for you:
