About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Accounting Lead to drive specialist accounting leadership across complex telco domains, including Revenue Accounting (IFRS 15), Lease Accounting (IFRS 16), and contract accounting. The role is central to ensuring consistent, compliant, and high-quality accounting practices across VOIS-served markets.

This position partners closely with Group Finance, Market Finance teams, and Finance Services stakeholders to strengthen governance, enhance control environments, and translate accounting policy into scalable operational execution. The individual will play a key role in stabilisation, transformation, and continuous improvement across complex accounting processes, while building capability within geographically distributed teams.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the telco accounting domain across VOIS-served markets, ensuring consistent and compliant accounting treatment across complex areas
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Revenue Accounting, Lease Accounting, contract accounting, and interconnect/roaming accounting
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex accounting issues, enabling clear decisions and consistent policy application
  • Translate IFRS requirements into practical accounting guidance and embed these into operational processes and controls
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal control frameworks, and SOX requirements
  • Drive alignment between commercial models, billing outputs, and accounting treatment to ensure accurate revenue recognition
  • Strengthen discipline across revenue accounting lifecycle including reconciliations, accruals, and close processes
  • Support finance transformation, automation, and standardisation initiatives with strong accounting input
  • Enable Finance Services teams through guidance, knowledge sharing, and improved operating practices
  • Lead resolution of complex accounting and reconciliation issues, reducing recurring discrepancies and post-close adjustments
  • Build and lead a distributed team, fostering accountability, capability development, and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders across Group Finance, Market Finance, and commercial teams

Who you are

  • A qualified accounting professional (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) with significant experience in telecommunications accounting
  • Strong expertise in IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 15 and IFRS 16, with proven application in complex environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing geographically distributed teams within multi-country operations
  • Strong understanding of telco commercial models and their accounting implications
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders in a matrix organisation
  • Skilled in translating complex accounting requirements into practical, controlled operational processes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication capabilities
  • Experience in finance transformation programmes, process improvement, and ERP environments
  • A collaborative leader who promotes knowledge sharing, consistency, and continuous improvement
