For the role of Specialist O-RAN ASIC Engineer Lead we are looking for candidates with a broad range of skills. The responsibilities include:

  • Design and verify open source and proprietary IP hosted on FPGA and ASIC devices Open RAN DU/RU platforms
  • Physical design and ASIC prototyping of in-house IP modules for Open RAN DU/RU platforms
  • System-level simulation of 5G systems and specific hardware-oriented algorithms with mathematical tools and behavioural models (C/C++,Matlab/Simulink, etc.)
  • Develop standardized HW/SW interfaces to simplify multi-vendor inter-operable solutions for DU/RU
  • Deliver energy efficiency performance of hardware modules based on estimations and on-board measurements.
  • Deliver microelectronics innovation
  • Develop, evaluate, implement, and maintain processes, tools, training, and technology related to the company’s approach to model-based systems engineering.
  • To participate in Agile projects building the required solutions
  • To ideate, develop and deliver chip development projects that allow Vodafone for differentiation.
  • To design and implement APIs and data modelling on the different interfaces defined by O-RAN ALLIANCE

What you bring

  • PhD’s/Master’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering with practical experience
  • 1+ year of experience in 5G/4G RAN technologies with strong experience of the protocol stacks and the underlying physical layer processing functions
  • 3+ year of experience of ASIC EDA tools, with strong knowledge in front- end hardware design and verification but also in back-end tasks
  • Deep understanding of ASIC design flow
  • Deep knowledge of hardware precision optimization (fixed-point, custom floating point, etc.)
  • Advanced level of English
