What you’ll do

Role purpose

  • Support the definition and evolution Mobile Access Architecture design and engineering in accordance with the Architecture Blueprint.
  • Responsible for the access design of Access Network and related interconnections with the Core Network.
  • Design of RAN Access network, with special focus on logical connectivity, security and synchronisation of the RAN base stations.
  • Management of technical acceptance of the Radio HW and SW, with special focus on RAN transport and transmission capabilities.
  • Definition of the RAN KPIs and of the related performance targets
  • Analysis and troubleshooting of the Mobile Access performance issues and design of the related improvement guidelines, with special focus on interworking with transport and core network.
  • Support definition of Access network HLD/LLD for specific MPN solutions.

    Key accountabilities and decision ownership
  • Provide high level design (HLD) of the Access Networks.
  • Define the reference RAN configurations with special focus on RAN transport capabilities and SW functionalities.
    HLD/LLD
  • Support process definition for the delivery of customised solution in collaboration with VBPS and ND
  • Define MPN specific Radio Transport configurations for the Vodafone RAN suppliers
  • Define the optimal design and parameterisation to maximise access network performance, in collaboration with ND and Transport teams.
  • Manage technical acceptance and life cycle of the RAN configuration and related SW functionalities, including the correct interworking with MPN/market specific core/TX design

Who you are

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of radio access technologies (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G)
  • Deep knowledge of networking techniques, with main reference to IP
  • Deep knowledge of synchronisation technologies and transport security (IPSec, Macsec).
  • Knowledge of radio equipment and sw functionalities and parameter
  • Knowledge of 3GPP protocols
  • Management of complex customised solutions

Must have technical / professional qualifications

  • Good awareness of wider technology aspects in telecommunications and ICT
  • Deep IP networking expertise
  • Very good knowledge of 3GPP Radio Protocols and mobility procedure
  • Inter-functional relationships
  • Ability to meet the deadline and project definitions, supported by good decision making skills
