Role Purpose:

Vodacom is seeking a dynamic, commercially astute finance professional to join a high performing team of finance business partners. This exciting role is a high impact and provides high visibility across the business.

You will use your sharp data analysis skills, combined with your commercial acumen to provide the Vodacom Business (VB) sales, commercial and finance teams with financial and commercial insights on key drivers for direct costs.

You will work with the sales and commercial teams to monitor and ensure effective cost management practices are in place, and to partner with the FinOps department to ensure correct accounting (IFRS15) treatment is applied in recognition of A&R costs.

Take ownership and lead the budgeting and forecasting process and support business units with analysis and reporting to ensure targets are met.

You will implement process enhancements to limit financial losses due to error or poor business decisions and to monitor the effectiveness of those controls.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Strong finance support business partner to sales, product, pricing and commercial teams
  • Support the various business units with finance investment decision analysis and ensure mobile deals are structured in a way that maximises revenue and is cost effective.
  • Implement cadence with the business to constantly and proactively monitor costs to ensure no cost overruns are incurred.
  • Implement internal controls and monitor the effectiveness of those controls to ensure costs are maintained and transactions are correctly recorded.
  • Regularly monitor costs and identify trends. Investigate reasons for any differences in trends.
  • Innovation and change: Simplify and standardise modelling, reporting and processes wherever possible whilst ensuring that the requirements of the business are delivered

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Actuarial science, or applied mathematics - essential
  • Power BI, advanced excel - essential
  • SQL - advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in a large corporate, which exposure to:
    • Large data sets
    • Monthly management reporting;
    • Commercial insights and activity.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Ability to balance complex detail with wider commercial matters
  • Action oriented / sense of urgency
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Ability to work with large data sets.
  • Knowledge of mobile products.
  • Experience in financial modelling
  • IFRS15 - advantageous
