About this Role

We are seeking an AWS Microservices & EKS Support Engineer to provide Level 2 operational support for AWS-hosted microservices and REST APIs running on Amazon EKS/Kubernetes platforms. This role is focused on ensuring service availability, operational excellence, incident resolution, observability, automation, and continual improvement across cloud-native environments. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain platform stability, achieve SLA/KPI commitments, and contribute to AI-enabled operational enhancements. This opportunity is suited to professionals with 1-3 years of experience in IT Operations, Cloud Support, Application Operations, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering environments.

What you will do

• Monitor and support AWS-hosted microservices and REST API services in production environments.
• Troubleshoot issues across application, API, container, network, DNS, authentication, and access-management layers.
• Investigate and resolve incidents, service requests, and operational issues within agreed service levels.
• Support P1/P2 major incident recovery activities and provide technical updates to stakeholders.
• Perform problem analysis, contribute to root cause analysis (RCA), and track corrective actions.
• Monitor AWS services including VPC, Route 53, WAF, IAM, Load Balancers, CloudWatch, ECR, and Secrets Manager.
• Support Amazon EKS/Kubernetes environments, including Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Namespaces, and Autoscaling.
• Analyse logs, metrics, traces, events, and workload history to diagnose service issues.
• Execute approved recovery actions, scaling activities, rollbacks, and service-restoration procedures.
• Maintain operational dashboards, alerts, health checks, and synthetic monitoring capabilities.
• Automate repetitive operational activities using Shell scripting, Python, AWS-native services, and workflow runbooks.
• Contribute to responsible AI/AIOps initiatives including event correlation, anomaly detection, incident summarisation, and guided remediation.
• Participate in service reviews, operational governance meetings, and continual service-improvement initiatives.
• Maintain documentation, operational runbooks, escalation procedures, and audit evidence.
• Collaborate with platform, network, security, database, and vendor teams to ensure service continuity and reliability.

Who you are

• 1-3 years of experience in IT Operations, Cloud Support, Application Operations, Production Support, DevOps, or SRE environments.
• Knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native application support.
• Exposure to microservices architectures, REST APIs, HTTP protocols, JSON, authentication, TLS, latency management, retries, and timeout handling.
• Working knowledge of Amazon EKS/Kubernetes, including Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and Horizontal Pod Autoscaling.
• Familiarity with AWS technologies including VPC, Route 53, WAF, IAM, Load Balancers, CloudWatch, ECR, and Secrets Manager.
• Understanding of Linux/Unix administration, command-line operations, and log analysis.
• Experience with Shell scripting, Python, or automation tooling.
• Knowledge of observability concepts including logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, alerts, and synthetic monitoring.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request Management.
• Exposure to CI/CD, GitOps, Helm, Terraform, CloudFormation, Argo CD, or related technologies is advantageous.
• Understanding of operational risk management, business continuity, disaster recovery, and audit compliance.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. AWS and ITIL certifications are desirable.
