Role purpose

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to support and act as second‑in‑command to the TCM Manager within our Transactional Cash Management operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing daily reconciliations, maintaining strong oversight of cash, bank transactions, and electronic payments, and ensuring full compliance with financial controls and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough reconciliation of all bank statements with precision.
• Oversee GSM and M-Pesa payments and encashment within the purchase-to-pay and order-to-cash systems.
• Assess and analyze all executed payment files, direct debit files, and manual payments.
• Review bank charges daily to ensure compliance with approved rates.
• Ensure discrepancies between our financial system and bank statements are addressed.
• Resolve reconciliation issues promptly and escalate them to the direct supervisor as needed.
• Maintain filing of all bank statements in an organized manner.
• Complete other reasonable work-related tasks as assigned.

Month-End Responsibilities:
• Capture and record bank interest, foreign exchange rates, and applicable bank charges.
• Ensure all open items across different banks are aged no more than 90 days.

Technical/Functional Skills:

Incoming Transactions:
• Reconcile deposits made by Vodacom customers and various Vodashops nationwide.
• Reconcile interbank transfers within bank accounts.
• Manage reconciliation of intercompany payments.


Outgoing Transactions:
• Reconcile interbank transfers from Vodacom Congo accounts and vendor payments.
• Manage tax payment reconciliations and ensure accuracy in tax posting.
• Verify calculations of interest received by banks for overdraft accounts and post related transactions.
• Ensure compliance of bank commissions and check the accuracy of bank charges for each supplier payment.
• Confirm that payments made align with amounts in the financial system and bank statements.


Intercompany Management:
• Follow up to correct duplicate payments.
• Ensure the correction of over-collected fees, commissions, and interest.
• Maintain accurate accounting of payments in accounts payable.
• Monitor customer payments in Vodacom accounts, addressing issues until resolved with the bank.


Reporting Responsibilities:
• Prepare and maintain Bank Reconciliation Templates.
• Generate cash reconciliation reports for the Group.
• Create Bank Overdraft Reports and Payments Reports.
• Compile reports on financial charges, including bank charges, commissions, interest, and foreign exchange.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proven experience in cash management or as a Senior Accountant.
• Strong proficiency in reconciliation processes and financial controls.
• Familiarity with accounting software and financial reporting tools.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
