If you want to grow your career whilst finding the perfect balance between work and life, Vodafone offers the opportunities to help you belong and make a real impact.

The role ensures that any AI system developed, procured, deployed, sold, resold or operated by Vodafone are lawful, safe, ethical, trustworthy, transparent and aligned with Vodafone's values and risk appetite.

The role provides strategic leadership across Vodafone Group and Local Markets, embedding Responsible AI throughout the AI lifecycle while enabling innovation at scale. Acting as the central authority for Responsible AI, the role drives consistent governance, supports compliance with applicable regulation including the EU AI Act, and provides executive decision support on AI-related risk and opportunity.

What you’ll do

  • Define lifecycle controls for testing, monitoring, validation and reassessment; oversee AI inventory, classification, documentation, risk reporting, exceptions, remediation and the Group Responsible AI risk register, including AI incident management;
  • Set and oversee third-party and customer-facing AI governance, including supplier due diligence, contractual requirements, product obligations, disclosures and evidence-based assurance before launch and in operation;
  • Lead market enablement, executive and regulatory engagement, industry influence and capability building; establish mandatory requirements, require remediation and recommend approval, conditional approval, risk acceptance or rejection within delegated authority.

Who you are

  • Significant leadership experience in Responsible AI governance or a closely related technology risk discipline;
  • Demonstrable experience designing and embedding enterprise governance frameworks, policies, technical standards and control environments;
  • Experience advising executive leaders and governance bodies and engaging regulators, auditors, industry bodies or standards organisations;
  • Strong understanding of AI and machine learning lifecycles, including generative AI, foundation models, agentic AI, data dependencies, evaluation, monitoring and assurance;
  • Strong knowledge of the EU AI Act and other regulatory frameworks, and the interaction between AI governance, privacy, cyber security, consumer protection, data governance and corporate ethics;
  • Experience designing and embedding enterprise-wide Responsible AI governance, managing different angles of AI risks including cyber security, privacy, bias and ethics, model risk or digital regulation;
  • Deep understanding of AI/ML lifecycles, including generative, foundation and agentic AI, evaluation, monitoring, assurance and data dependencies;
  • Experience and ability to assess and challenge technically evidence or data related to AI systems, such as: data quality, fairness, explainability, robustness, safety, privacy, security, human oversight, monitoring and model performance;
  • Executive judgement and communication, translating complex technical, regulatory and ethical issues into proportionate decisions and practical controls;
  • Ability to lead through influence across a complex, federated international organisation and engage regulators, auditors, industry bodies and standards organisations;
  • Fluency in English.
