About this Role

We are seeking a Performance Test Engineer to deliver performance and non-functional testing services within VOIS across telecommunications platforms, services and components. You will develop performance test strategies, plans, scripts and scenarios, execute tests and analyse results against agreed quality standards, milestones and service levels.The role requires practical experience in performance testing within multinational environments and the ability to work across Cloud, CRM and Middleware domains. You will collaborate with application teams, product owners, IT Operations, developers and multiple vendors to identify performance issues, communicate findings and continuously improve testing practices.

What you’ll do

  • Understand telecommunications technology stacks, delivery approaches and strategic initiatives to define appropriate performance testing strategies.
  • Plan, script, execute and coordinate performance and non-functional testing activities.
  • Develop dynamic scripts and realistic performance test scenarios using tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter and SOAP UI.
  • Analyse non-functional requirements (NFRs), workloads and volumetric requirements to establish appropriate test coverage.
  • Analyse performance test results and communicate findings clearly in both technical and business language.
  • Develop and maintain the NFT test strategy, reflecting changes in risks, schedules and testing processes.
  • Collaborate with application teams to investigate and resolve performance issues.
  • Monitor application and infrastructure behaviour using APM and diagnostic tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, HP Diagnostics and CA Wily.
  • Support performance analysis across Java/JVM architecture, garbage collection, class loading, thread dumps and Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Work within CI/CD and cloud-based environments using technologies such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Gatling, GitHub and Maven.
  • Support testing across Kubernetes, microservices, AWS Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments.
  • Use C, Java, SQL, shell scripting and VB macros where appropriate to customise test scripts and automate processes.
  • Increase test automation and promote reusable assets, including scripts and input datasets.
  • Maintain testing deliverables in accordance with agreed methodologies and industry standards.
  • Identify, document and support the resolution of defects through the agreed defect management process.
  • Identify lessons learnt, recommend best practices and implement continuous improvements to testing processes.
  • Communicate risks and issues to project teams, test management and other relevant stakeholders.

Who you are

  • You have proven experience delivering performance software testing solutions across multinational and distributed environments.
  • You have practical experience with performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter and SOAP UI, including Web HTTP and other relevant protocols.
  • You understand performance test scripting, execution, analysis and performance bottleneck identification.
  • You have experience working with CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes and microservices.
  • You understand Java/JVM performance concepts, databases and application/server performance metrics.
  • You have experience using application performance monitoring and profiling tools.
  • You can analyse NFRs and volumetric requirements and translate them into effective performance tests.
  • You have knowledge of C, Java, SQL, shell scripting and automation techniques.
  • Experience with supporting diagnostic tools such as Fiddler, browser developer tools, HAR files and Lighthouse would be advantageous.
  • You understand testing standards and structured defect management practices.
  • You communicate effectively with product owners, developers, IT Operations, testing professionals and other stakeholders.
  • You take a thorough, quality-focused and methodical approach to your work.
  • You can collaborate effectively within a changing, multicultural and matrix organisation.
  • You are fluent in English and able to communicate technical information to technical and business audiences.
  • You are able to travel to Europe intermittently where required.
