About this role
We are seeking a Network Operations Specialist to join our team. This role involves ensuring the business impacts of critical and complex outages in our Global Data Centres are minimised by identifying root causes and resolving issues promptly. You will be accountable for minimising the impact of network changes and reducing human errors by effectively driving the change process. As part of the network transformation programme, you will identify operational automation opportunities, collaborate with the development team for deployment and testing, and achieve the expected benefits. This role requires working with multiple teams locally and globally, demonstrating agility to resolve or reduce the number of issues/incidents effectively by exploring multiple feasible options.
Job Role
- Provide L2 support for network operations on a 24x7 basis, owning incidents escalated by customers or L1 support teams and providing required resolutions within agreed timelines.
- Escalate issues outside the team's scope, involving third-level/vendor teams for resolution.
- Own activities around reducing the number of repeated incidents while working with respective teams.
- Identify opportunities for automation of operational activities and work with related teams to implement solutions and achieve required benefits.
- Review and update the current knowledge base, run book/operation procedures, and fill gaps to keep the knowledge base updated.
- Communicate updates about the progress of incident resolution to stakeholders, carry out timely escalations as per the process, and participate in major incident handling calls.
Skills and Experience
- BSc or BE degree in Telecommunication, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to isolate issues quickly and provide the right solutions, adaptable and self-dependent.
- 5+ years of work experience in large data centres resolving network issues.
- Troubleshooting and incident resolution experience for telco-grade routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
- 2 years of working experience in a virtual environment using VMware.
- Understanding of cloud concepts and working experience in public/private cloud support is highly desired.
- NSX/CCNP/JNCIA/JNCIS/AWS or relevant certifications.
- Basic understanding of Agile and DevOps way of working is desired.
