About this Role

The DC Core Network Service Design Engineer plays a pivotal role within the centralised Data Centre Network Design team at Vodafone Technology. The individual will be responsible for the end-to-end design of network services for assigned projects, ensuring alignment with Vodafone’s strategic direction and compliance with established policies. This role involves close collaboration with subject matter experts, architects, project managers, and infrastructure services to deliver standardised, high-performance solutions.

What you’ll do

  • Develop high-level design (HLD) documentation for network service solutions.
  • Analyse service requirements to create optimised, high-performance network designs.
  • Design and migrate service connectivity from legacy environments to SD-WAN, ACI, NSX, and private cloud platforms, adhering to Vodafone’s security zoning and routing standards.
  • Forecast future performance, availability, and capacity needs based on business plans and usage trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support service restoration and ensure seamless connectivity.
  • Manage design resources effectively, prioritising tasks to meet project timelines.
  • Provide timely updates on data centre network project designs.
  • Communicate solution strategies and product offerings clearly to stakeholders.

What skills you need

  • Proven experience in data centre builds, consolidation, and migration to public cloud environments.
  • Hands-on expertise in SDN technologies including SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, and VMware NSX.
  • Proficiency in automation tools such as Python, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco Nexus data centre devices.
  • Familiarity with switching (FabricPath), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, BFD), segment routing, Ethernet, VXLAN.
  • Experience with private and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Ability to deliver network solution designs within agreed timelines and support successful migrations.
  • Clear communication of project status and updates to stakeholders.
