Role Profile

The Privacy Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the operational aspects of privacy compliance programs. Working under the guidance of senior privacy leaders, you will conduct detailed assessments, assist in the design of privacy controls, and ensure the organization’s adherence to data protection regulations. Your work enables effective risk mitigation and fosters accountability across business units by translating regulatory requirements into practical policies and processes.

Role Profile

  • Lead and execute comprehensive privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for new initiatives, technologies, and data flows.
  • Support the implementation and enforcement of privacy policies, procedures, and standards across all business units.
  • Monitor and document data processing activities to identify compliance gaps, inconsistencies, or risks.
  • Facilitate privacy audits and compliance reviews, preparing detailed findings, recommendations, and follow-up tracking.
  • Assist in managing third-party risk assessments to ensure that vendors and partners meet privacy and security requirements.
  • Coordinate the handling of data subject requests (access, rectification, erasure, portability), ensuring timely and accurate responses aligned with legal obligations.
  • Support privacy incident response efforts, including initial investigations, impact assessments, and coordination with legal and IT teams.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive privacy documentation, including records of processing activities (ROPAs) and compliance reports.
  • Collaborate with training teams to develop engaging, role-specific privacy awareness content and track employee participation.
  • Stay informed on privacy regulations, industry best practices, and emerging privacy technologies to support continuous improvement.
  • Ability to assess and lead mega project through committee assessments and be able to deal with multiple stakeholders.
  • 360 view across main committee stakeholders “Data Privacy, Cyber Security and Information Security during leading the committee call and project assessment.
  • Dealing with Group and Vodacom Data Privacy team in Group project within timely manner and be able to assess according to local law and regulations before approving\rejecting any project.
  • Properly asses if any project would impact the local departments and make sure right stakeholders are aligned.

Competencies and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Privacy or\and technology or\and legal or\and relevant role
  • Ability to lead & influence cross functional teams
  • Excellent communication, presentation & reporting skills
  • Spotting any potential risk, provide potential solution “if any” or report to relevant management
  • Must have technical / professional qualifications:

    • CIPP\E is a plus
    • Strong knowledge of GDPR and PDPL
    • Familiar with the current company technical assets
    • Previous experience in technology or compliance or relevant roles
    • English language fluency
    • Strong communication, presentation skills
    • Proficient with MS PowerPoint and report writing
    Strong Analytical skills and Proficient use if excel and access
