What you’ll do:
In this role as Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the commercial performance, forecasting & achievement of key market, customer & financial KPIs of our Small Business Fixed & Beyond connectivity portfolio, across Soho and SME. As owner of the VBU Small Business Fixed P&L you will ultimately be responsible for commercial planning, performance and delivery of trading and P&L optimisation initiatives to drive sustainable growth and build market share for the segment.
You will work as part of Vodafone Business Ireland’s Commercial Team who are responsible for owning, shaping and defining the commercial success and strategy of Vodafone Business Unit’s (VBU) mobile, fixed & beyond connectivity portfolios . The team works closely with all other VBU teams in the business as one Virtual team, in particular with sales, marketing and product delivery teams. You will also work cross functionally with our colleagues in Finance, Customer In Life, Technology & Networks and Group.
Essence of Role – Key Accountabilities:
P&L management & forecasting
With your deep insight & understanding of the macro environment for Soho and SME customers & the competitive landscape we operate in, you will devise the annual customer & financial detailed budget (DB) for our portfolio in collaboration with our Finance Partner.
You will subsequently monitor & track commercial performance against the annual budget plan taking pride in explaining success in the “what” and the “why”.
Report on key market, customer & financial KPIs, and continuously seek to ensure optimal revenue & margin performance throughout the year.
You will also work closely with sales channel owners to align with accurate forecasts to determine growth targets and commercial incentives.
Trading and Performance:
You will be responsible for building a comprehensive suite of reporting and analytics to help assess trading performance and guide commercial strategy.
Using in depth awareness of the Soho and SME SaaS market and competitor landscape you will monitor & appraise all commercial offers to understand whether they performed in accordance with expectation and drove the right net benefit; perform quarterly reviews & feed into future plans.
You will also analyse weekly sales, churn & net growth performance, prepare the segment sales meeting update briefing and attend trading meetings as required.
You will work closely with the Finance team to understand the financial impact of quarterly plans and how to optimise bottom line growth.
Diagnose performance issues as they arise and embed learnings into future quarterly plans & financial reforecasts.
You will work closely with sales and delivery teams to ensure all sales are successfully tracked through to delivery & billing within SLA timeframe.
Commercial steering
You will be responsible for building and delivering compelling commercial rationale and business casing for new propositions, you be expected to demonstrate critical rationale to support customer investment strategies.
You will review the competitor market for annual and quarterly trends and develop strong knowledge of competitive landscape and potential threats and opportunities.
You will be required to present key commercial insight and demonstrate ability to influence key stakeholders up to and including board level decision makers.
You will develop a comprehensive understanding of the infrastructure we utilise to deliver our products, identifying areas for efficiency and optimising profitability.
You will lead our commercial in life strategy, identifying areas of commercial efficiency and new opportunities where we can deliver more customer benefits and account growth.
Work with our finance partner to provide financial recommendations to deliver initiatives that improve profitability & customer experience.
Who you are:
• Commercial planning, forecasting and budgeting experience.
• Experience working in cross-functional and virtual teams across different disciplines
• Experience in succeeding in high profile, pressurised environment which demands flexibility and multi-tasking
• Rigorous attention to detail and proven competency when working with large datasets.
• Education to a degree level or highly relevant compensating work experience; previous telecommunications or SaaS experience advantageous; experience of pricing / commercial analysis in a similar sector i.e. telecoms, tech, utilities
• Growth mindset, hungry to deliver innovative market changing propositions and ambition to win in competitive environment.
• Comfort in working with excel models and analyses; able to roll detail up to compelling presentations and stories; excellent communication & presentation skills (written & verbal)
