Cloud Sr Project Manager (VOIS)

Job Description

Role Purpose:


The Cloud & Security programme is facing off into the Vodafone Business Operating Companies (OpCo) and IBM to ensure both parties are enabled to operate as part of the Vodafone/IBM Joint Venture. A series of projects will bring new products to market and require Vodafone to deliver pre-defined dependencies as part of the enablement.

The Propositions Project Manager will plan, direct and coordinate activities to manage and implement the Cloud & Security Proposition projects aligned to the Roadmap including E2E service handover and take on; plans, schedules, monitors and reports on activities related to the project. Managing the Sell, Build and Run deliverables across C&S products.
The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering and interfacing to internal suppliers, IBM, OpCo’s and the Vodafone Business stakeholder teams.


The Project Manager determines, controls, monitors and reviews all project economics to include project costs, budgets, staffing requirements, project resources and project risk.

Ensuring that the projects are managed to realise business benefits, including IBM, that are reflected up through operational costs to Vodafone and that the programme management is informed by an awareness of current technical developments.

Accountable for ensuring that the project and their component parts adhere to the mandated Vodafone best practice methodology and processes. Engage with and seek improvements to processes at all times. Ensure all programme team members are following methodology and processes. Provide leadership & contribution to all Vodafone Process & Methodology discussions/workshops that affect management of programmes.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

• Creating a detailed project plan, identifying the resources required, project interdependencies and critical path, including all the activities that the business need to do to prepare for new technical or business components.
• Manage the delivery of the project interfacing to internal suppliers, IBM, OpCo’s and the Vodafone Business stakeholder teams.
• The Project Manager determines, controls, monitors and reviews all project economics to include project costs, budgets, staffing requirements, project resources and project risk.
• Ensure that the project delivery adheres to the mandated Vodafone best practice methodology and processes. Ensure all programme team members are following methodology and processes.

Team Coaching and Development
• Develop team members through monthly coaching, the provision of on target feedback, counselling and recognition.
• Facilitate service evaluations to ensure the delivery of excellent standards ensuring the achievement of KPIs and objectives
• Facilitate performance reviews using the “Performance Dialogue” Framework for team members.
• Ensure all team members adhere to Vodafone policies and procedures.
• Adopt and ensure team member adherence to Acts and Regulations, including, but not limited to, the privacy Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act and Equal Opportunity Act.
Team Support
• Manage the Human Resource aspects of your team members including the provision of support, counselling, guidance and advice.
• Organise and facilitate Team Meetings and provide feedback to Business Managers
• Ensure efficient and effective communication of information to team members

Customer Support
• Ensure the delivery of the customer experience to customers in accordance with current Vodafone standards through regular sessions.
• Be a point of escalation in the handling of customer queries and complaints to the point of resolution
• Maintain an up to date personal and team knowledge of Vodafone products and services.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

• Thorough knowledge of and experience of working in structured and/or Agile Project Management environment
• Proven ability to manage projects and deliver benefits to timescales
• Strong planning and project management skills
• Experience and understanding of Cloud & Security, telecomms industry
• Management of internal and third-party resources (including offshore)
• Stakeholder management and communications skills
• Experience of working in complex, global matrix environment
• Balances multiple work streams, work to tight deadlines and remain cool under pressure / Advanced Time management skills.
• Excellent ability to influence and motivate teams

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

• Agile Project Management
• APM/PMI qualifications
• Structured Project Management (e.g. PRINCE2)
• 6 years of relevant experience and 2 years People Management experience
