Role Purpose

  • To ensure the successful delivery and acceptance of civil infrastructure projects by conducting field inspections,
  • Assessing quality standards, and verifying compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Supporting network infrastructure readiness, minimizing operational risks, and ensuring that Vodafone’s standards are applied in all Vodafone projects.
  • Prepare acceptance certificate that identify site status and compliance with payment predefined scenario
  • Technical guidance: Provide expert advice to Engineers and construction teams
  • Technical documentation: Develop, Maintain accurate records, test reports and acceptance certificates
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors and external authorities
  • Testing and Commissioning: Witness testing, verify results and approve handover certificates

Key Accountabilities & Decision Ownership

  • Civil Works Inspection and Acceptance: Conduct site visits to inspect civil works, ensuring they meet Vodafone’s specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.Verify completion of contracted work against scope and documentation for acceptance.
  • Compliance Assurance: ensure all civil projects comply with local regulations, health, safety, and environmental policies. Assess materials and workmanship for adherence to technical specifications.
  • Snag Identification and Resolution: Identify defects, snags, or incomplete works and document them comprehensively. Collaborate with contractors and Regions to ensure timely rectification.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate acceptance reports, checklists, and certificates. Escalate critical issues and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with supply chain, network engineering, and cost control teams to align on project objectives. Support cross-functional teams to drive on-time project completion.
  • Decision Ownership: Approve or reject completed civil works based on inspection outcomes. Recommend remedial actions and enforce adherence to timelines.

Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and infrastructure requirements in telecom.
  • Attention to detail and expertise in identifying quality issues.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to engage with contractors and stakeholders effectively.

Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of construction materials, techniques, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with civil acceptance standards, contractual requirements, and inspection methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and dashboards for report generation and tracking (e.g., SLA, rejection analysis).

Experience:

  • Proven experience in civil works inspection, preferably in the telecom sector.
  • Track record of resolving site-specific issues like galvanization, painting problems.
  • Hands-on experience in snag documentation and rectification follow-up.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Additional certifications in construction management, quality assurance, or telecommunications infrastructure will be advantageous.

Technical Qualifications:

  • In-depth understanding of civil engineering standards, methods, and techniques related to telecom infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in using construction management tools, project documentation software, and quality assurance platforms.
  • Knowledge of local and international construction codes and standards (e.g., TIA codes, EG Code).

Professional Skills:

Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities for field challenges.

  • Strong documentation and reporting skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze project data and KPIs using dashboards or relevant tools.

Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge:

  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards applicable to telecom construction.
  • Knowledge of legal and contractual obligations for civil works in telecom projects.
