Applications Specialist: MIS & Qlik Sense

Job Description

Role purpose

The Application Specialist for MIS and Qlik Sense is in charge of end-to-end management of the two Business Applications that are used for provision of services related to management information, business intelligence, machine learning and data visualization, integrated services with third-party applications and serve as second level support for delivery of support services to users from other departments.

Key responsibilities

In particular for the business applications, his duties include:

1. Applications Availability Management: He is the ultimate accountable person for the overall Applications Availability
• He is in charge of Business Applications health check, performance management and maintain operating KPIs as defined with the supplier of applications.
• For MIS which is an internal customer facing application, he is notably responsible for application functionalities in terms of prioritization for better usage by customers / subscribers as per the agreed SLA and QOS.
• He is responsible for engaging as main SPOC with the Supplier of the two Business applications in order to get maximum out of the contractual deliverables and enforce the SLA.

2. Qlik Sense Application Modules Availability: – Specific responsibilities include

• Daily check of Qlik sense Jobs and DataMart in terms availability, performances, issues detection and remediation, in order to maintain all dashboard of users update to date.
• Engage with providers of Qlik Sense on a weekly basis in order to validate performance metrics against contractual KPIs. Take ownership of all contractual recommended actions in case of provider underperformance.
• Prepare Daily System Performance Report

3. ITIL Based Service Management: Incident, Change, Configuration, Problem Management
Incident
• Report on the incident with inputs from initial analysis, symptoms
• Immediate classification of the incident as per the contractual SLA where applicable
• Engage application provider in compliance with the support contract.
• Engage peers within BIT for where applicable (Infrastructure, other SO).
• Measure impact on internal users / customers / Subscribers and proffer quick workaround to keep the service running until final remediation of the incident.
• Responsible for validating root cause analysis report and materializing Vodacom contractual benefits in case of underperformances by the provider.
• Accountable for documenting evidences of Incidents management and reporting.
Change
• Immediate identification of the approved business objective as per the project scope or, business owner request and / or others

• Validate the project plan and the runbook in consideration of minimal business impacts and risks, no degradation
• Engage application provider in compliance with the support contract.
• Engage peers within BIT for where applicable (Infrastructure, other SO).
• Prepare relevant Approvals and inputs for communication to all stakeholders
• Accountable for validating Change/configuration related acceptance tests.
▪CyberSecurity – GDPR
• System Assets ownership – Provision of relevant inputs to the IT infrastructure manager for identification of assets running the system/application.
• Privileges Accounts Management – Maintain a list of privileges accounts and track activities in compliance with the user access management policy.
• Users Access management – Maintain list of users accounts management at all level notable, operating systems, database and application.
• Vulnerabilities remediation management.
• Ownership systems hardening compliance over systems under your responsibility.
• Compliance to the Cybersecurity and GDPR policies and procedures.

4. Project management Activities
▪ Under the supervision of the line manager prepare a next 15 days project related activities with PMO
▪ Deliver next 15 days projects related activities.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, mathematic or related field.
• 3-5 years professional experience in data analysis, reporting, or similar role.
• Experience with SQL and relational and multi-dimensional databases (Access, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle and AWS Redshift).
• Big Data & Machine Learning knowledges.
• Programing Skills (PL/SQL, Python and R).
• knowledges of BI tools (Qlik Sense, Power BI and Tableau).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
