Job Description

We’ve got an amazing opportunity for an experienced Technical Analyst to join our Core IT team to help drive the technical solutions that keep our services running efficiently and ready for the future. From capacity planning and application lifecycle management to performance testing and compliance, you’ll ensure our platforms are robust, scalable, and continuously improving.

In this role, you’ll work closely with product teams, security experts, solution designers, and platform teams, contributing to platform design, strategy, and delivery. You’ll take ownership of critical activities like capacity management, continuous service improvement, major event's planning, and compliance, making a real impact every day.

You will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex architectures and systems to deliver effective, practical solutions. Communication is key as you’ll be engaging with developers, partners, and non-technical audiences alike, so being a clear and confident communicator is essential. We’re proud of our people-focused culture here at Virgin Media O2, so you’ll also be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about driving meaningful change.

So, we build equity and inclusion into everything we do, from the policies we craft to the relationships we shape. We support and encourage you to be your authentic self throughout your application journey with us.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Demonstrable experience working in a similar Technical Analyst role within a complex technical and stakeholder environment
  • Highly experienced in supporting telecommunications Business Support Systems (BSS) platforms by troubleshooting complex issues, managing configurations, and collaborating with multi-functional teams to ensure stability, performance, and continuous optimisation in fast-paced environments
  • Experience in managing systems focused on scalability, flexibility, and performance to adapt to changing and growing demands
  • Demonstrable experience in capacity management by tracking system performance trends, planning for future growth, and producing management-level reports with insights on capacity utilisation and system performance
  • Experience working with cloud-based BSS platforms, including strong Linux skills and SQL knowledge, along with hands-on experience managing BSS applications

The other stuff we are looking for

We'd also love you to bring;

  • Experience in collaborating with teams to make sure we are for major events like Black Friday and device launches, implementing proactive measures to deliver seamless customer experiences during peak times
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders while clearly communicating technical concepts

What's in it for you

Our goal is to celebrate our people, their lives and everything in-between. We aim to create a culture that empowers everyone to bring the best versions of themselves to work each and every day. We believe the most inclusive and diverse culture makes for a better business and a brighter world.

Working at Virgin Media O2, you get a bumper reward package bursting with benefits, and loads of extras you can add if you’d like to. These are designed to support both you and your loved ones, making sure that you’re covered no matter what life throws your way.

Next steps

If we feel like a place where you can belong, we'd love to learn more about you as a person and your experience to date. Once you've submitted an application the next steps of the process, if successful, are likely to include a personality profile assessment, followed by a technical and competency-based interview.

When you apply, you'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process. Let us know, and we'll be sure to discuss it with you.

Please note: Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the duration of this advert, therefore we may bring the closing date forward. We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as possible. If you’re offered a job with us, it will be conditional, based on the passing of background checks. All roles require a criminal record check and some roles need a financial probity check. Your recruiter can provide you with more information if needed.
