Job Description

As the Commercial & Content Rights Manager, you will be responsible for working across content partners and VMO2 TV&E, Commercial and TV Product teams, managing:
in Content Rights—the process of supporting Virgin Media O2’s evolving TV product roadmap by identifying rights gaps, working with partnership leads to secure the necessary rights and with content partners to activate them; and in Anti-Piracy—being the first point of contact in resolving live instances of content leakage from the VMO2 TV content ecosystem, and, more widely, driving Virgin Media O2’s efforts to understand, prevent and disrupt piracy within the Virgin Media O2 customer base and wider market, ultimately supporting TV value and net growth.
The Commercial & Content Rights Manager leads, contributes and collaborates with cross-functional teams and interfaces with colleagues across TV & Entertainment, commercial, legal, regulatory, data protection, information / networks security, fraud, customer services, product, and operations.
The partners that the Content Acquisition Team works with include global media and entertainment companies such as Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount Global and Disney, and UK broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky and UKTV. Who we are

The UK’s fastest broadband network. The nation’s best-loved mobile brand. And, one of the UK's biggest companies too.

Diverse, high performing teams - jam packed with serious talent. Together, we offer the UK more choice and better value, through our boundary-pushing, customer-championing values and ambitions.

Together, we are Virgin Media O2, and we can't wait to see what you can do.

Accessible, inclusive and equitable for all

Virgin Media O2 is an equal opportunities employer and we're working hard to remove bias and barriers for our people and candidates. So, we build equity and inclusion into everything we do, from the policies we craft to the relationships we shape. We support and encourage you to be your authentic self throughout your application journey with us.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience:

  • Proven experience in content security, digital rights management (DRM), pay TV security, and/or anti-piracy, including implementing processes or technologies to detect, deter, and respond to piracy threats.
  • Strong understanding of piracy ecosystems, including methods of unauthorised access and distribution, forensic watermarking, and traffic monitoring techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of copyright and intellectual property law, as well as secure content distribution technologies and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience leading strategic projects, particularly those related to anti-piracy initiatives or content protection compliance, and managing complex stakeholder relationships across legal, commercial, and technical functions.
  • A track record of cross-functional collaboration and delivering results in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where content protection and revenue risk mitigation are top priorities.

The other stuff we are looking for

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience:

  • A degree or professional qualification in Media, Telecommunications, Business, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of the TV, entertainment, or telecoms industries.

  • Proven commercial and analytical acumen; comfortable interpreting contracts, data, and financial impacts.

  • Skilled in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to convey complex info clearly.

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills.

  • Experience in cross-functional team collaboration, project delivery, and partner management.

What's in it for you

We’d also love you to bring:

  • Direct experience in content rights management or anti-piracy operations.

  • Familiarity with forensic tools or technical content protection strategies.

  • Extensive relationship management experience in media or telecoms.

Next steps

If we feel like a place where you can belong, we'd love to learn more about you as a person and your experience to date. Once you've submitted an application the next steps of the process, if successful, are likely to include a two stage interview process.

When you apply, you'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process. Let us know, and we'll be sure to discuss it with you.

Please note: Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the duration of this advert, therefore we may bring the closing date forward. We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as possible. If you’re offered a job with us, it will be conditional, based on the passing of background checks. All roles require a criminal record check and some roles need a financial probity check. Your recruiter can provide you with more information if needed.

Thanks for your patience and for showing an interest in joining the Virgin Media O2 family.
