The Role – Principal Consultant - 9 month FTC

You will spearhead pre-sales efforts in either our New York or our London offices, driving revenue growth through strategic client engagement and expert positioning of our solutions. You will act as a trusted advisor during the sales process, identifying complex business challenges and crafting compelling, high-impact proposals that demonstrate clear ROI and strategic value. Leveraging your deep expertise in psychology, HR, and organizational wellbeing, you will support our commercial teams in winning competitive deals, provide expert credibility in client meetings, and ensure our solutions are positioned as transformative rather than transactional. Working alongside our commercial and science teams, you will focus on translating client needs into winning proposals and helping to close complex enterprise deals.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading Pre-Sales Strategy: Own and drive pre-sales initiatives you are assigned, engaging with senior clients and prospects to understand their challenges and collaboratively design compelling proposals that align with their strategic goals.

  • Influencing at the Executive Level: Partner with senior business leaders, providing thought leadership and influencing decision-making through insights grounded in psychology and behavioral science. Proactively challenge assumptions and introduce innovative mental health strategies that deliver measurable impact.

  • Global Consulting Leadership: Lead the delivery of high-profile consultancy services projects globally, ensuring solutions are implemented effectively and align with the client’s overarching objectives. Your strategic input will be crucial in demonstrating measurable outcomes and ROI.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build and foster strong partnerships with senior leaders across Unmind, including the Commercial, Science, and Client Success teams, ensuring an aligned approach to delivering outstanding services and thought leadership in the mental health space.

  • Impact Measurement: Support the team in assessing the impact of Unmind's solutions, incorporating advanced ROI analysis, client feedback mechanisms, and continuous improvement strategies to ensure sustained value delivery.

  • Event and Workshop Leadership: Strategically design and lead high-impact events, workshops, and live sessions that are tailored to the nuanced needs of each client, collaborating with industry experts and incorporating cutting-edge scientific evidence to maximize effectiveness.

🌟 About You

  • Advanced Subject Matter Expertise: A Master’s or PhD in psychology or a related field, coupled with extensive applied experience in workplace mental health, HR, learning and development, or organizational psychology.

  • Pre-Sales and Consulting Mastery: A proven track record in leading high-stakes client proposals, pitches, and new business conversions, particularly in client-facing consultancy roles within complex environments.

  • Executive-Level Client Engagement: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with demonstrated success in engaging C-suite executives and senior stakeholders to build trust, credibility, and influence strategic decision-making.

  • Strategic and Analytical Acumen: Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to measure ROI and showcase tangible business impact through well-crafted proposals and programs.

  • Leadership Excellence: Extensive experience in leading complex projects and cross-functional teams, with the ability to mentor junior consultants and drive high-impact outcomes across multiple levels of the organization.

  • Corporate Insight: A deep understanding of the corporate environment, with a particular focus on workplace wellbeing, HR, learning and development, and how these intersect with broader business performance metrics.

Tip for candidates: If you’re unsure whether to apply – do. We know great people don't always tick every box.
