Job Purpose
To review asset planning data for system standards and integrity, inc SAP task list, QA documents and processes. Development of processes and systems in line with a continuous improvement strategy and business change programs.
Coach planners on a variety of systems, planning best practice and processes to provide a consistent and seamless service. Act as SME for the planning strategy across corrective and work bank tasks, in line with continuous improvement for existing, future systems and ways of working.
Working with key stakeholders to ensure planning integration with operations, logistics and scheduling as part a meeting cadence to maintain and develop the planning function.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Drive safe and effective maintenance planning by ensuring hazards are identified upfront, maintaining high-quality maintenance plans, and promoting consistency and accuracy across planning activities.
- Own and improve maintenance planning processes and systems through the development of QA documentation, management of the job plan library, SAP task list expertise, system enhancements, testing, and continuous process improvement.
- Monitor performance and drive continuous improvement by reviewing data quality, auditing planned corrective work, reporting on job plan library effectiveness, and identifying opportunities to enhance maintenance planning and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership, training, and support by acting as the subject matter expert (SME) for planning processes and systems, delivering planner training, coaching new and existing planners, and offering technical input into strategic projects.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes through effective communication, analytical problem-solving, collaboration with operational teams and contractors, and the ability to overcome operational challenges while aligning activities with organisational goals.
What We Are Looking For:
- Strong engineering and maintenance expertise with a solid engineering background, attention to detail, and experience in maintenance within United Utilities or a comparable industrial production environment. In-depth maintenance knowledge with the ability to accurately estimate labour hours, material requirements, and skillsets required to complete maintenance activities.
- Technical qualifications and operational knowledge including HNC/Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering, supported by a time-served apprenticeship (or equivalent) and relevant field experience. In-depth knowledge of UU plant operations, equipment, Health & Safety processes, UU Safety Standards, and work authorisation procedures.
- Systems and maintenance planning proficiency with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a good understanding of SAP, MARS ways of working, work orders, and maintenance planning principles. Planning background with experience of industry best-practice systems such as SAP, MAXIMO, or equivalent maintenance management systems.
- Analytical and problem-solving capability including an understanding of root cause and failure analysis, the ability to resolve complex system issues, task and workflow errors, and the foresight and breadth of knowledge required to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Excellent planning and organisational skills, effective communication and presentation abilities for workshops and standdowns, capability to coach Maintenance Planners across a variety of systems and audiences, resilience to manage competing priorities within deadlines, and possession of a full UK driving licence.
