
Job Description
The role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Assistant to join the Merseyside Wastewater Process Team. This is a varied and integral position where you will support both the Management and Process Field Teams with essential administrative and operational tasks, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of site activities.
As a key point of coordination, you will manage purchasing, support financial processes, facilitate communication across teams and suppliers, and help maintain an organised and efficient working environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on position and enjoys balancing multiple priorities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing administrative support to the Area Management Team and local managers as required
- Raising purchase orders for equipment, PPE/workwear, and ad hoc services
- Supporting field staff with purchasing requests and ensuring orders are receipted in a timely manner
- Maintaining accurate records of PPE issuance and site inventory
- Supporting financial processes, including journals, accruals, and basic financial analysis
- Organising meetings, briefings and team events, including booking rooms and managing communications
- Coordinating onboarding requirements for new starters and apprentices (equipment, system access, etc.)
- Acting as a point of contact for site-related queries and materials (e.g. posters and notices)
- Keeping site notice boards and departmental contact lists up to date
- Booking training for team members as required
- Supporting the organisation of open days, away days and other team activities
- Providing cover for other Operations Assistants during absence (e.g. holidays or sickness)

- Flexibility to travel between sites
Full UK driving licence is required for this role
