Job Description

The role:

We are currently recruiting four Mechanical Fitters to join our teams across the following locations:

  • Two positions in Greater Manchester
    Two positions in Merseyside

In this role you will provide mechanical maintenance and technical support to the operational teams to maintain low levels of asset downtime and reduce operational risk. This role is specific to Inlet Screens and will drive improved preventative maintenance of this asset base.

The role can require lone working, confined spaces working to ensure assets fully meet operational and maintenance requirements and the desired business outcome. There is no participation in an out of hour’s standby rota required. The role will be regional for an area of the wastewater business.

What you'll be doing:

  • To provide efficient mechanical maintenance and repair service, thus ensuring the optimal availability of assets, whilst at the same time keeping within budget and quality parameters. (Inlet Screens)
  • Responsible in conjunction with the Scheduling team, for completing all planned work scheduled within agreed service levels.
  • To perform planned and proactive maintenance activities to ensure asset availability and efficient operation.
  • To ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and internal company policies.
  • To provide reliable, accurate and complete asset performance and repair information for entry into corporate systems to support analysis and improved asset performance.

What you'll bring:

Skills:

  • Ability to work in a team but also alone, be resilient, self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and possess the required technical competence.
  • Able and willing to diversify into specialised areas of maintenance, as required, such as but not limited to inlet screens.
  • Diagnostic, organisational, planning, communication and computer skills.

Experience:

  • Qualified City and Guilds or National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 (or equivalent) in a primary Mechanical discipline.
  • Preferable: Water Industry Experience- 3 years +
  • A practical and theoretical knowledge of mechanical rotating equipment is required.
  • Where appropriate possess a sound working knowledge of wastewater process.
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, Company policy, statutory regulations, operations procedures, maintenance procedures and administration procedures.

A full UK driving licence is required to carry out this role
