Business Support Officer – Registration of Interest Ref. 3762
Job Description
Flexible working: We support a range of working patterns, full-time, part-time (minimum of 3 working days), compressed hours and job shares. Due to the nature of the role homeworking will not be possible.
We’re MI6, also known as the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS). Our mission is to protect the security and economic wellbeing of the UK from overseas threats such as regional instability, terrorism, and cyber-attacks. Working across the globe and in close partnership with MI5 and GCHQ, we help the Government to counter these threats through the provision of secret intelligence. A role in MI6 will see you providing vital support to this work, within a supportive and encouraging environment that puts the emphasis on teamwork.
The work of Business Support Officers is varied and central to our mission. You could be supporting intelligence teams, working alongside senior colleagues or helping ensure the smooth running of the organisation. Whatever the area, your work will be valued, and you’ll be encouraged to think differently and contribute new ideas.
On joining, you’ll begin a structured three-year development pathway, gaining experience across different teams and environments. This will help you build a broad skillset, develop confidence and gain a strong understanding of how the organisation operates as a whole. You’ll be supported throughout with training, mentoring and a strong peer network.
Once you’ve completed this pathway, you’ll have the opportunity to take your career further – including the chance to work overseas in one of our many global locations. This is a unique aspect of the role, offering the opportunity to experience new cultures, take on fresh challenges and continue developing your skills in a dynamic international environment. For those motivated by variety, travel and continuous development, it’s a career that can evolve in many different directions.
The role is based in London with opportunities to work overseas once you complete your three-year development pathway.
The application window for Business Support Officers will open on Monday 6th July 2026. In the meantime, we encourage:
