Job Description


TUI Airline Flight Operations is to be the single service provider to TUI AOC’s for all operating policies, documentation, performance tools and flight operations support. We develop and improve compliant and consistent operating policies and procedures for flight and cabin crew, and ensure that all operating manuals and documentation are consistent and included in the document management system. The team also drives best practice in fuel and environment management in order to deliver the TUI Group Sustainability objectives.

The main purpose of the Senior Fuel Efficiency Project Specialist is to ensure that fuel best practices are identified, developed, and translated into projects. He will coordinate projects, and oversees implementation. The Senior Fuel Efficiency Project Specialist is responsible for the delivery of all fuel projects in TUI Airline, ensuring they are consistently updated with industry developments in the field.

The expectations of the Senior Fuel Efficiency Project Specialist will be to develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with teams across TUI Airline, the Group Sustainability team, E&M, TAGO, CCIS and Finance. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and maintaining robust reporting, analysis and MI, and will be critical in supporting the Group Environment and Fuel Manager in all activities.

We are happy to consider this role on a hybrid working model in line with local office attendance requirements. Regular travel to/across our 5 AOC (Air Operator Certificate) locations should be expected once or twice a month. Due to the frequent travel and the international scope of the role, the successful candidate will require the ability to travel freely between our 5 AOC locations, namely UK, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden and Germany, without the need for additional travel authorisations.

ABOUT THE JOB

As the Senior Fuel Efficiency Project Specialist you will

  • Utilise your airline, fuel and sustainability expertise to provide input into the TUI Airline fuel strategy, and ensure the identification and end to end delivery of fuel initiatives and projects across TUI Airline
  • Identify and ensure delivery of all changes in procedures, working practices and behaviours required to deliver fuel projects aligned with TUI Group Sustainable Development and TUI Airline strategic objectives
  • Centrally co-ordinate and support fuel projects across all AOCs, which will require you to develop and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to ensure they maintain momentum
  • Provide data collection, analytical MI reporting, and assist on ETS/CO₂ reporting across airline fuel and SD initiatives. Identify trends and sights based on specialist external knowledge in the field of fuel
  • Use your project management expertise, alongside the tools and methodologies agreed within TUI Airline, to ensure that projects are managed effectively, monitoring impact and gauging success post implementation
  • Work closely with senior leaders in TUI Airline and the central and local communications teams to deliver effective, timely and audience appropriate communications to front-line and head office teams on the topic of fuel management ensuring that our colleagues understand and support the TUI Group Sustainable Development objectives
  • Influence senior leaders across TUI Airline and all TUI AOCs to effect necessary workplace change to achieve the objectives laid out in the TUI Group Sustainable Development and TUI Airline strategies

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment with managing projects, preferably relating to fuel management or sustainable development initiatives
  • Proven experience in planning and coordination of complex projects, utilising project management tools and methodologies including monitoring to ensure delivery of stated benefits, and ensuring effective post-implementation assessment
  • An engineer, pilot (no valid license required), project or fuel manager in an operation using large commercial jet aircraft – this background knowledge is essential to ensure an understanding of the topics involved
  • Capability as an expert in the fuel field, ensuring a clear visibility of current and cutting edge thinking in aviation fuel management, including relevant Sustainable Development topics
  • Capability to master complex dependencies paired with high numerical skills / mathematical modelling
  • Insightful appreciation of the formal and informal influences and structures within an organisation; works effectively to involve stakeholders in business decisions by building trust and gaining consensus with people across all levels of the organisation and across different countries
  • Cultural sensitivity, with experience of working as part of a pan-European team
  • Able to operate as a trusted partner and to influence the application of common solutions and best practice in all AOCs
  • Strong business English is mandatory and fluency in other European languages an advantage
  • Willingness and flexibility/ability to travel freely between our 5 AOC locations, namely UK, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden and Germany, without the need for additional travel authorisations
