Job Description

Internship – EU Public Policy Office of TUI Group

The International Public Policy and EU affairs team in Brussels represents the interest of the TUI Group vis-à-vis decision makers and stakeholders on EU level as well as in the TUI markets/regions as required. Amongst other responsibilities, we conduct stakeholder engagement, regularly monitor relevant EU public policy and legal proposals and prepare analyses to inform decision-making and planning within the Group. A crucial task in order for our business and all its market/regions to be well prepared in advance, regarding impactful developments and regulations for the tourism sector. To do so, we constantly liaise with different teams across TUI Group in all of Europe. This includes source markets and destinations’ policy teams, Group Sustainability, Communications, Group HR, TUI Care Foundation and TUI Stiftung.

Your role: what will you be bringing to the department

Tasks include, depending on the department's current goals and your interests:

1. Participation in TUI's public policy stakeholder dialogue on EU level and its coordination across TUI Group source markets.

2. Administrative tasks related to the everyday management and organisation of the office.

3. Contribution to existing formats for internal reporting and development of new formats where needed.

4. Monitoring of EU legislative activities relevant for TUI and contributing to the preparation of briefings/presentations.

5. Contribution to the digital footprint of the Corporate Office (i.e. social media, website, blogs etc.) and supporting the Director and the team in their everyday activities.

6. Contribution to organisation of events (physical or virtual), including preparing concepts, invitation of guests and speakers and follow-up, preparing event content, practical organisation, communication activities.

About you: what skills do you bring?

There are more ways in which you can be a match for this function, however, there are some key essentials we are looking for in our intern:

1. Basic knowledge of the EU Environment and Institutions.

2. Fluent English is an absolute requirement as it is the working language. German, French, Dutch and other EU languages are an asset.

3. Research and organisational skills.

4. An open and communicative personality, motivated and hands-on.

You can expect to learn about the position of tourism and aviation in the international and European policy environment, you will have the chance to engage with policy stakeholders and decision makers on EU and international level, and you will learn about the political challenges and opportunities for the tourism and aviation sector. Furthermore, you can expect to develop or improve the following skills: research techniques, communication strategy, policy analysis, EU institutional knowledge, understanding of the international business environment, EU legislation, and other organising and drafting skills.

Practical information

This is an unpaid internship of min. 2 months, starting from September which will take place in Brussels and will consist of a 39-hour week. We are looking for students who are, for the full extent of their internship, still enrolled in an educational institution and who can come to the office in Brussels.

Application process

Are you interested in this internship? Then please apply online by submitting your CV and a short motivation letter via this link. Once your application has been received, your profile will be shared with the relevant mentor within TUI. Successful candidates will be invited to a (virtual) interview and may subsequently be offered an internship opportunity at TUI.

Why should you choose to do an internship with TUI?

  • We offer internal online and offline training through our own learning platform TUI People Learning, which you will also have access to, as well as through GoodHabitz or Bookboon;
  • Experience the inner workings of a dynamic and international corporate organisation;
  • We offer an NMBS / De Lijn season ticket for the period of your internship, so that you can come to work without any problems;
