Job Description

This role sits in the central Analytics & Insight Chapter and the PowerBI & Automation Squad. The primary focus is to democratize data within Tesco Mobile, so that stakeholders have easy access to the insights they need and are up-skilled on where to source and how to use the information for maximum value.

Tesco Mobile is an Agile organization, meaning that we work very closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and objectives and then implement appropriate solutions. This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and a strong business understanding to make sure that we have a holistic view of data to enable customer-driven commercial decisions.

This role will require a strong understanding of PowerBI/MS Fabric, SQL and technical skills, as well as strong communication skills, so that you are able to mine internal data alongside stakeholder feedback and ultimately visualize data in a digestible and relevant format, to provide insight into the business.

You will be commercially aware and a strong storyteller and deliver insight with impact and have the courage to challenge the status-quo to ensure that the customer is at the heart of decision making, ensuring that you stay abreast of other data sources and business strategy to provide the 'so what' behind the data and provide actionable insight into the business.

As a PowerBI Developer you will:

- Develop, maintain and enhance insightful and visually engaging BI reports and dashboards

- Receive and develop briefs from the business and using our internal data, combined with other data sources to provide a holistic view of the data available.

- Belong to the PowerBI & Analytics squad responsible for end-to-end delivery of a product to deliver value to Tribes and Centres of Excellence

- Participate in all squad ceremonies and events, raising impediments as soon as identified to facilitate delivery

- Inspect and adapt your way of working for continuous improvement.

- Embody an Agile mindset and culture to contribute to the growth in agile maturity of our business

- Provide accurate, insightful and timely analysis to the business to help them make better decisions and enable Tesco Mobile to serve its customers a little better every day.

- Ability to simplify the complex and generate precise insights then communicate them clearly.

- Continuously acting with integrity and due diligence

Must Have

* Strong BI dashboard and reporting development experience (PowerBI/MS Fabric preferred)

* Experience with AI-powered productivity and development tools such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Tabnine, or similar solutions to accelerate reporting development and insight generation

* Experience in getting stakeholders to self-serve their data is a bonus

* Strong interpersonal skills so that you can work closely with the squads you support

* Skilled at adapting communication for both technical and non-technical audiences

* A genuine interest in obtaining insight from large data sets and sharing those insights with the wider business

* Highly skilled at creating engaging, actionable, easy to understand insight with a track record of creating compelling data visualisations

* Experience in coding complex SQL queries against a large relational customer database, identifying relevant data sources and summarising to provide the insight as identified

* Highly numerate with a Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or similar degree with high numerate content

* Ability to resolve data-related problems

* Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team

* Comfortable working with a product backlog and self-organising to deliver it

* Highly organised and able to juggle multiple priorities concurrently

* Excellent problem solving skills with a logical approach

Desirable

* Experience working with modern cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks.

* Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control, peer review, and collaborative development using GitHub.

* Experience using modern development environments such as Visual Studio Code.

* Experience identifying and implementing automation opportunities using AI, scripting, or low-code solutions.
