Job Description
Interested in a chance to Own and scale Tesco’s loss prevention platform, shaping strategy, teams, and technology across Tesco Group? Read on!
The Loss Prevention technology team’s mission is simple: Help Tesco to sell more and lose less.
As Lead Product Manager for Loss Prevention technology, you will lead a team of 5 Product Managers within a broader organisation of 30+ engineers, data scientists and analysts.
You will set direction, align teams, and scale the impact of our platform product. You will make smart interventions available to any customer or colleague touchpoint. You will shape platform capabilities across investigation, decisioning and operational systems using APIs and distributed platforms, data and decisioning systems, machine learning, computer vision, hardware devices, and AI agent-based systems.
You will lead through others, developing the capabilities of your Product Managers and aligning a broad ecosystem of stakeholders. You are accountable for ensuring the system works end-to-end — connecting teams, prioritising effectively, and delivering scalable capabilities with measurable impact.
Success is defined by reducing shrink and fraud while maintaining high customer conversion and minimising operational cost-to-serve.
This is one of the most impactful product challenges in retail - join us!
1. Set direction for loss prevention technology, defining how Tesco teams understand, detect, and intervene to prevent loss across any channel or process.
2. Partner with strategy, business, operations, and technology teams at scale, turning a collaborative network of teams into a coherent, high-performing strategic system.
3. Manage a team of technology product managers. Develop their capabilities and performance so they can execute at scale.
4. Design and run experiments, using data to validate hypotheses, prioritise investment, and influence senior decision-making.
5. Drive adoption of reusable, API-first and data-driven capabilities that unlock compounding value across Tesco functions.
6. Cut through organisational and technical complexity, unblocking progress and driving momentum across a large, cross-functional enterprise.
7. Generate new value across billions of interactions, directly affecting shrink value, fraud detection, precision, conversion impact and cost-to-serve.
1. Proven product judgement in ambiguous, high-scale retail environments with competing commercial and customer trade-offs.
2. Articulates complex problems clearly, using data and insight to align stakeholders, shape priorities, and drive decisive action.
3. Defines the right problems to solve, using data, experimentation, and insight to guide prioritisation and product strategy.
4. Leads through alignment, translating strategy into clear direction and prioritised roadmaps across multiple teams and domains.
5. Orchestrates delivery across multiple teams, ensuring coordinated execution against clearly defined product outcomes.
6. Deep experience building and scaling platform products: APIs, decisioning systems, data products and AI-driven capabilities.
