The team is responsible for developing and managing Data & AI products that drive intelligent experiences, decisions and actions across the Tesco ecosystem. We work in close partnership with business and technology teams across Stores, Finance, People, Customer, Commercial to enable the seamless build, consumption, integration and expansion of Data & AI capabilities.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team and lead and coordinate Tesco’s AI Governance programme, ensuring that AI development, procurement and usage are ethical, safe, and compliant. As part of this, you will drive broad AI adoption across the organisation. You may also play a role in defining, building and launching AI Assistant, automation and agent products that have a real impact on Tesco business and colleagues.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation of being based at our London and Welwyn Garden City offices 3 days a week.

As a Lead Product Manager, you will coordinate and continue to develop Tesco’s AI Governance, ensuring that AI is developed, acquired, and used ethically, safely and compliantly. You will provide support to the AI Adoption programme, which aims to put the right AI tools in the hands of all colleagues to empower them to do their best work. You will also shape and deliver specific AI-powered productivity solutions that enhance Tesco colleague productivity and simplify workflows. You will partner with cross-functional teams and external partners to define strategy, prioritise initiatives and features, and ensure alignment with business objectives and user needs, driving ethical AI development and adoption and measurable productivity gains.

You will be responsible for:

· Defining and owning the vision and roadmap for AI Governance, creating alignment across functional teams such as legal, cyber security, and risk.

· Working through a natural working team to deliver the ongoing AI Governance programme to ensure appropriate oversight of AI, while ensuring that the governance framework keeps pace with AI developments and business needs.

· Supporting work in AI Adoption, defining and owning the vision for specific workstreams and productivity solutions and ensuring close integration with AI Governance.

· Owning specific AI productivity tools, defining and owning the product vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer experience objectives.

· Prioritising work and decisively resolving trade-offs with peers and senior leaders to maximise business value, subject to ethics, risk, and compliance considerations.

· Implementing governance frameworks that enable broad development and usage of AI, while ensuring appropriate risk management and oversight.

· Translating complex business challenges into innovative, data-driven solutions that improve colleague productivity.

· Steering sprint and release planning sessions with engineering counterparts to plan iterations that deliver maximum business value with minimal effort.

· Prioritising, coordinating, and communicating the resolution of live product issues independently.

· Building and nurturing a high-performing team of Product Managers based on business needs and strategic priorities, who will work across AI governance, AI adoption, and AI productivity tools.

· Empowering and developing your team to continually deliver value, fostering a culture of inclusion, innovation and continuous learning.

· Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and targeted upskilling initiatives to develop expertise in product management and emerging technologies.

· Providing leadership and direction to cross-functional teams on short-term tasks and mid / long term priorities.

· Identifying and removing challenges faced by the team by working with your Head of Product and other stakeholders, proactively flagging risks or delays.

· Ensuring Data & AI products adhere to governance, security and ethical standards.

· Experience developing and implementing AI Ethics, Risk, and Compliance / AI Governance policies, programmes, and / or tools.

· Knowledge of AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, or others

· Strong curiosity around and understanding of AI technologies and how these can deliver value, but also create risk or be misused (note: a technical background in AI or data science is not required)

· Strong business acumen, including knowledge of key commercial drivers, business metrics, and measuring value of productivity gains.

· Experience of using product roadmaps to create stakeholder and team alignment.

· Uses company approved tools to produce and update product roadmaps.

· Recognises the importance of data-driven prioritisation and maintains a consistent approach to prioritisation.

· Appraises and analyses customer research results to influence product outcomes and strategic goals.

· Understands how diverse personas or customer groups perceive, interpret and experience products in different ways.

· Applies UX/UI disciplines and principles to product design, ensuring intuitive and customer-friendly interaction.

· Develops hypothesis statements and collaborates with engineers to set up and execute experiments.

· Understands AI productivity technology systems and monitors health metrics.

· Engages in market research, leveraging insights to shape product vision and strategic direction aligned with business, technology goals and customer expectations.

· Utilises various data types appropriately, knowing when to apply quantitative and/or qualitative data.

· Applies knowledge of the Product Management lifecycle, delivery processes, and Agile principles to discover, design, define, develop and deliver incremental opportunities that drive growth and value.
