At Booker, we're always looking for ways to make things better for our colleagues and customers. As an Applications Engineer II, you'll play a key role in enhancing and developing the HR and Payroll applications that support critical business processes across the organisation.
Working as part of the Application Engineering team, you'll collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, produce detailed technical specifications, configure ERP solutions and deliver system improvements that drive business value. You'll take ownership of application change initiatives, ensuring solutions are thoroughly tested through structured UAT processes and implemented successfully.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong ERP application experience who enjoys translating business needs into technical solutions, defining requirements and delivering application enhancements in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
- Partnering with business stakeholders to gather, analyse and document functional and technical requirements.
- Producing detailed technical specifications, solution designs and supporting documentation for system enhancements.
- Configuring and enhancing ERP application functionality to meet evolving business needs.
- Leading application change initiatives from requirements gathering through to implementation.
- Planning, coordinating and executing User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test script creation, defect management and business sign-off.
- Supporting project delivery activities, including upgrades, enhancements and new functionality deployments.
- Collaborating with suppliers, developers and internal technology teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
- Analysing business processes and identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Producing accurate technical documentation, process maps and change records.
- Ensuring all changes adhere to governance, security and change management standards.
- Proven experience working with ERP or other enterprise business applications.
- Strong experience gathering requirements and translating them into clear technical specifications and solution designs.
- Experience configuring and enhancing ERP systems to support business processes.
- Strong understanding of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test planning, execution and defect resolution.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex business requirements.
- Experience delivering application changes or projects within a structured change management environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and priorities.
- A proactive mindset with a strong focus on quality, continuous improvement and delivering business outcomes.
Desirable
- Experience working with HR, Payroll or Workforce Management applications.
- Knowledge of ERP integrations, data flows and application architecture.
- Experience managing application enhancements through the full project lifecycle.
- Experience creating test strategies, test plans and UAT frameworks.
- Experience delivering training, workshops or knowledge transfer sessions to business users.
