Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

We're looking for a Senior Product Specialist who thrives at the intersection of product thinking, technology, and execution to join a high-impact, AI-powered team building a store associate app in co-innovation with leading retailers across multiple countries.

The product at the heart of this role is an AI-powered store associate app — a mobile-first tool that helps frontline retail workers handle everything that happens on the shop floor: from replenishment and order picking to customer support and in-store order fulfillment. The goal is to make every store associate faster, smarter, and more autonomous in their daily work.

You will be joining one our new squads where AI agents run 24/7 alongside the team, enabling iteration cycles that simply aren't possible in traditional enterprise development. As a Product Manager, you will take ideas from concept to launch - working closely with engineering, design, and business stakeholders to build impactful, scalable products. This role demands a hands-on mindset: you will help shape the product vision while actively contributing to building, testing, and refining the product.

In this role, you’ll collaborate deeply with technical teammates, a shared UX Designer, and stakeholders across SAP and our retail partners to shape a user-centric, mobile-first, AI-first product with real-world impact.

WHAT YOU'LL BUILD:

  • Translate problem statements and user needs into functional product solutions by rapidly prototyping AI workflows using models, APIs, and tooling — then test and iterate based on real user feedback

  • Define MVP scope and prioritize features based on impact and feasibility, by balancing short-term delivery with long-term product vision, model capabilities, UX, cost, and latency trade‑offs

  • Partner with engineering to convert ideas into robust production systems, working closely with ML / AI engineers on model selection, evaluation, and deployment. Help simplify complex AI behaviour into intuitive user experiences

  • Track and take ownership of product success using adoption, engagement, and outcome metrics

  • Own the evaluation framework for AI workflows: design test sets, track quality metrics such as accuracy and latency, and run experiments to validate model behavior before and after deployment.

  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives, communicate clearly with stakeholders on progress, risks, and trade-offs

  • Conduct user research, gather field insights, and ensure strong problem‑solution fit for store associate workflows.

  • Turn ambiguous asks into well‑defined product opportunities and roadmap themes

  • Own backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and agile execution using Jira, Confluence, and modern collaboration platforms.

  • Partner daily with the squad’s Architect and Senior Developer to make informed decisions on system design, API structures, and implementation trade-offs.

  • Actively use AI-assisted development and product tools to accelerate discovery, design, and delivery.

  • Contribute to a collaborative, experimentation-driven co-innovation culture.

  • Treat launch as the beginning, not the end: oversee the full lifecycle of AI features from initial deployment through monitoring, iteration, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure AI features meet enterprise-grade quality and SAP product standards — including reliability, scalability, security, and readiness for global deployment across diverse customer environments.

  • Success in this role means: AI features in production, measurable adoption by store associates, and a team that moves from idea to shipped product in days — not quarters.

WHAT YOU BRING:

Experience & Skills

  • 3–5 years of product management experience, ideally in AI-driven solutions, retail tech, or enterprise software.

  • Solid technical fluency, including familiarity with:

    • Cloud-native architectures

    • AI fundamentals

    • Agentic AI system concepts

  • Experience using product analytics to inform decisions and validate hypotheses.

  • Comfort working in small, autonomous squads with rapid iteration cycles.

  • Proficiency with modern tooling such as Figma, Miro, Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.

  • Passion for user experience, especially for frontline workers in high-paced environments.

  • A strong sense of product craft and ownership—balancing user value, technical constraints, and business goals.

  • Enthusiasm for co-innovation with customers and building solutions grounded in real operational contexts.

  • Good to have Hands-on familiarity with SAP S/4HANA or SAP Business AI.

  • German language proficiency

MEET YOUR TEAM:

You will join SAP's Consumer Industries organization, where we build solutions that help retail companies plan their business and supply chain — from grocery and hardgoods retailers to specialty and fashion brands. Our mission is to deliver best-in-class, AI-powered planning and supply chain capabilities with a clear industry focus. SAP S/4HANA Retail sets the market standard for retail cloud services, and our vision is to enable a connected digital core — the backbone of end-to-end global business processes — helping customers transform across manufacturing, supply chain, and retail.

We are growing our Munich presence with new co-innovation squads, and we're hiring a Product Manager for each. What makes these teams different is how they build: AI agents run 24/7 alongside the development team, generating, testing, and iterating at a pace that simply isn't possible with traditional development cycles. As the Product Manager, you'll be setting direction for a machine that doesn't stop — which means your ability to prioritize clearly, validate quickly, and keep the team focused has direct and immediate impact on what gets built. With AI agents fundamentally changing what's possible in development speed, we are building the playbook for the next generation of enterprise product teams — and this role is at the center of it.
