Role Summary
The Principal AI Product Lead for Customer Master Data provides thought leadership for how AI is applied in the Customer Master domain and orchestrates the team’s contribution to SAP’s broader AI strategy. The role shapes the holistic vision and roadmap for the Master Data Assistant and develops the domain concept for context engineering, translating these into clear expectations and contribution areas for the wider team. Complementary to thought leadership, the role also owns selected high-impact AI use cases and proof-of-concepts in the Customer Master Data space, demonstrating tangible short-term value while building the strategic foundation for the domain.
This role defines and advances the strategic direction for AI in the Customer Master Data domain. It connects domain expertise, emerging AI capabilities, and stakeholder alignment into a pragmatic direction for the team. The role is expected to balance long-term conceptual leadership with visible near-term outcomes through selected use cases and proof-of-concepts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide thought leadership on how AI should be applied in the Customer Master Data domain, framing direction, principles, and opportunities in a way that is accessible and actionable.
- Shape the holistic vision and roadmap for the Master Data Assistant, including target user journeys, domain-specific capabilities, and its role within the broader Customer Master Data landscape.
- Develop and evolve the concept of context engineering for Customer Master Data, including how domain knowledge, metadata, knowledge graph, data products, and agent structure.
- Translate this vision into clear contribution expectations for the wider team, ensuring that AI work is distributed.
- Own and drive a portfolio of high-impact AI use cases and proof-of-concepts in the Customer Master Data domain, from problem framing and success metrics to experimentation and initial rollout, to demonstrate tangible short-term value.
- Partner with product managers, architects, data scientists, and engineering leads to ensure that AI initiatives are aligned with product strategy, technical architecture, and master data governance.
Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in product management, AI product leadership, or comparable strategic roles in enterprise software.
- Deep understanding of Customer Master Data, its processes, and its importance for enterprise applications and analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership by framing new concepts, aligning diverse stakeholders, and turning ambiguous topics into concrete next steps.
- Hands-on experience driving AI-related initiatives such as use cases, proof-of-concepts, or experiments that delivered measurable value.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, technical experts, and delivery teams.
- Ability to operate at both conceptual level and execution level for selected initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within SAP’s ecosystem, Customer Master Data products, or adjacent master data or customer data platforms.
- Familiarity with context engineering, knowledge representation, or domain modeling approaches for AI systems.
- Experience enabling or coaching teams on AI topics rather than only driving individual projects.
- Exposure to AI governance, data quality, and responsible AI practices in enterprise settings.
