Job Title: Senior AI Scientist

Location: Bellevue, WA

Purpose and Objective:

SAP Labs, LLC seeks a Senior AI Scientist at our Bellevue, WA location responsible for development of new Machine Learning models and optimization of existing ML models.

Expectations and Tasks:

Understand and responsible for the implementation of the most recent machine learning algorithm and approaches. Ensure performance and system scalability through initiating an fostering continuous collaboration with development teams. Work through business problems from beginning to end. Understand research insights and adequate concepts for SAP’s customers. Lead small project teams. Collect requirements and coordinates the machine learning development. Communicate the relevance of implemented systems and achieved results in a visual and consistent way across levels. Show initiative and explore new use cases and applications of machine learning.

Education and Occupational Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field of study and six (6) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field of study and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:

Experience must include three (3) years involving each of the following:

• Utilizing graphs for large scale machine learning application;

• Developing graph-based ML models including GraphSAGE, GAT, or Graph Transformers;

• Cloud-based ML development platforms including AWS and Azure;

• Big data processing frameworks and relational data processing tools including Spark, MYSQL, HIVE, and Hadoop;

• Legacy tabular models including development and deployment;

• LLM and Generative AI framework including LLM-fine-tune and RAG; and

• NLP applications.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $196,914 - $216,128. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $196,914 - $245,600. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
