PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

As a critical part of SAP’s Transformation journey, the mission of the CPIT Order-to-Cash (O2C) Team is to drive the implementation of the company’s strategy and achievement of shared business objectives through world class end-to-end business processes and systems. Amongst the team’s key objectives are to innovate, standardize, simplify, and automate SAP’s core business processes and assure continuous alignment with the SAP IT portfolio and business stakeholders. In all activities, closing the loop from strategy to execution is key to driving impact for SAP and for our customers.

As a Senior AI Engineer under Order to Cash, you will develop intelligent, autonomous AI systems that can reason, plan, take actions, and collaborate with other SAP Order To Cash modules. This role is ideal for someone who has deep experience with LLMs, autonomous agent frameworks, orchestration layers, and building production-grade AI systems.

You will work across research, architecture, and implementation, designing agentic workflows, building scalable inference pipelines, integrating external tools/APIs, and ensuring reliable safety, observability, and performance.

You will own technical vision and solution design, ensure integration with internal AI infrastructure, set technical standards, and ensure interoperability and embedded scaling opportunity.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

• Build, and deploy AI & Agentic AI systems capable of autonomous decision-making, multi-step planning, and dynamic tool usage.
• Develop custom LLM-based pipelines using frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or agent platforms like CrewAI, AutoGen, OpenAI Assistants API, or ReAct/Plan-Execute using our own SAP BTP framework.
• Implement vector search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, memory stores, and reasoning layers.
• Design safety, evaluation, monitoring, and governance mechanisms for complex AI-agent behaviors.
• Work across teams to integrate AI agents into product workflows, back-end systems, SaaS platforms, APIs, and internal tools.
• Mentor teammates, conduct code reviews, and shape our AI engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• End to end development of the AI & Agentic pipeline
• Strong experience in developing MCP Servers
• Strong experience in building AI, Generative AI & Agentic AI solutions
• Experience in evaluating and selecting appropriate AI technologies and tools.
• Order To Cash business knowledge integration of AI solutions into existing systems.
• Provide mentorship & technical guidance to other team members.
• Stay updated with the latest AI trends and technologies to drive innovation

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• We seek people with distinctive academic credentials, strategic thinking, superior problem-solving skills and a strong professional track record of results.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in natural language processing, computer vision, and other AI domains.
• Working experience in various GenAI models & LLMs is mandatory
• Should have strong working experience in connecting to various backend systems- - preferably SAP systems
• It would be added advantage for hands-on experience in SAP Joule
• Should have strong working experience in muti-cloud environment and microservices
• Knowledge in SAP Business Data Cloud would be a plus
• Strong understanding of AI frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
• Languages: Python, JavaScript, ABAP OOPS
• Frameworks: LangChain, AutoGen, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel etc.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms like SAP BTP /AWS/ Azure/ Google Cloud.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• UI skills would be an advantage ( not mandatory)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluent both spoken and written in English
• Ability to integrate into an international, virtual and highly diverse team, work independently as well as have a positive self-motivated can-do attitude
• Experience in Agile/SAFe methodology

WORK EXPERIENCE

• We are looking for more than 12 years professional work experience with a proven track record of 6 years in AI project contribution
