WHAT YOU’LL DO
Our team is looking to add an experienced firewall engineer with expertise in Palo Alto Networks devices. An optimal candidate will have real world experience in use of Palo Alto firewalls and the Prisma cloud to establish communications between corporate locations. Physical implantation is typically done by second and/or third line support with your guidance. While you’d be familiar with firewall policy, you would not be required to implement but rather design, configure and troubleshoot network / layer 4 routing and forwarding.
Main responsibilities:
- As part of our global team, use the managed service provider to deploy, operate, monitor and maintain the global network infrastructure.
- Provide subject matter expertise in the design of network services with a focus on Palo Alto networks firewalls and Prisma cloud. Knowledge of Cisco routing / switching a bonus. Work with our managed service provider for implementation.
- Expert level understanding routing designs using Palo Alto cloud in and IPv4 and IPv6 environment (actively in use) with firewalls participating in dynamic routing – OSPF and BGP.
- Create and implement designs, troubleshoot issues, coordinate upgrades of on prem and cloud-based Palo Alto equipment within the environment described.
- Coordinate with network experts in routing and switching but not necessarily in firewalls.
- Assist peer network teams (LAN, remote access) at connection points with implementations and troubleshooting.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 8+ years of experience as a Network Engineer in a global networking.
- 4+ years in a Palo Alto network setting is strongly, strongly desired. 4+ years’ experience with another firewall product with cloud in an enterprise setting will be considered
- The perfect candidate will have strong prior experience with Palo Alto networks firewalls in an enterprise setting. Experience with Prisma cloud is strongly desired.
- An acceptable candidate will have very strong experience with other firewall brands in an active routing setting using a cloud-based provider for interoffice connectivity. Lab based knowledge and/or small groups of firewalls in other settings will not provide enough experience for this role.
- Knowledge of design and operations of Layer 2/Layer 3 routing and switching, preferably Cisco Networks.
- The perfect candidate would have strong knowledge in routing protocols, especially BGP.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong command of the English language with excellent collaboration and teamwork abilities. Any German language knowledge a plus.
- Analytical thinking and problem solving, autonomous and proactive working behavior. Flexible attitude towards working hours to work as part of the global team. Due to our personnel footprint, there will be regular meetings and issue resolution required after normal working hours.
- Experience with Palo Alto global remove access / Global protect is a plus.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced and multi-cultural organization
