The role:

We are looking for an Expert DevOps Engineer (f/m/d) who combines deep technicalexpertise with hands-on leadership to join our Lifecycle Management team in Sofia. In this role, you will act as the technical anchor for the team, driving decisions acrosssystems, shaping how platform components are owned and evolved, and enabling theteam to operate with autonomy. You will go beyond system-level work, influencing architecture, lifecycle strategy, andcross-team alignment, while remaining hands-on in solving complex technical challenges.

What you’ll do:

  • Take end-to-end ownership of complex, cross-cutting platform systems,including CI/CD platforms, Kubernetes shared components, and automation tooling
  • Act as the technical anchor for the team, guiding architecture-level andsystem-level decisions
  • Define and drive lifecycle strategies at scale (versioning, upgrades,deprecation, reliability standards) across multiple systems
  • Lead the takeover of systems from other teams and establish clearownership and governance
  • Drive improvements in CI/CD, automation, and platform reliability
  • Solve complex, multi-layer problems across CI/CD, Kubernetes,infrastructure, and integrations
  • Mentor team members and support their growth in system ownership andtechnical skills
  • Collaborate with architects and senior stakeholders across SAP CloudInfrastructure, influencing decisions beyond the team
  • Identify opportunities to reduce complexity, improve reliability, and increaseautomation.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field• Deep knowledge of CI/CD architectures and pipeline ecosystems
  • Advanced understanding of Kubernetes components (e.g. controllers, ingress, cert-manager)
  • Proficiency in programming / scripting languages such as Python, Go or Bash (orsimilar)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible or similar)
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native technologies
  • Strong understanding of system lifecycle management at scale (upgrades,compatibility, deprecation strategies)
  • Ability to drive technical direction and decisions in ambiguous environments
  • Experience leading cross-team initiatives and system ownership transitions
  • Experience working in agile, collaborative environments with distributedinternational teams
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work in evolving environments
  • Excellent team player, passionate about his/her work, self-motivated and driven• Excellent communication skills in English

Tech you bring:

  • OpenStack or similar infrastructure platforms
  • Kubernetes ecosystem
  • Scripting/programming (Go, Python, Bash or similar)
  • CI/CD tools (Concourse, Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible or similar automation tools)
  • Linux environments• Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana) – nice to have
  • Secrets management (e.g. Vault) – nice to have
