SAP Sovereign Cloud is a specialized cloud solution designed to meet stringent data sovereignty, security, and compliance requirements. It is tailored for organizations that need to ensure their data remains within specific geographic or jurisdictional boundaries. A collaborative, cross-functional working group within SAP focuses on defining, developing, and promoting best practices for the adoption and implementation of SAP Sovereign Cloud solutions.

YOUR FUTURE ROLE

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer (f/m/d) for the recently formed Sovereign Cloud Delivery Architecture Quality Assurance team of the Delivery & Operations business unit within the Customer Services and Delivery board area. With the buildout of new Sovereign Cloud regions, you will be taking part in laying the foundation towards a unified and competitive business in the regulated industry. You will be responsible for the technical validation of single tenant solutions in our pre-production landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage deployment pipelines and infrastructure automation for cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in an international environment and proactively engage stakeholders across teams to gather requirements, clarify priorities, understand deadlines, and identify dependencies, ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux systems for performance, stability, and security.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to drive DevOps best practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) adoption.
  • Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure, focusing on reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with cloud and network security standards and implement best practices for identity and access management, data protection, network security, and incident response.
  • Architect, implement, and troubleshoot complex network solutions, including VPNs, load balancers, VPC endpoints, and interconnectivity between systems.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and processes using scripting languages and configuration management tools.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.

What you bring

  • Proven experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.); professional-level certifications are highly desirable.
  • Strong skills in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Linux systems.
  • Solid understanding of cloud and network security concepts and hands-on experience implementing security best practices.
  • Good understanding of network components and architecture, including VPNs, load balancers, VPC endpoints, and the ability to design and troubleshoot network solutions.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), configuration management (Ansible) and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to proactively engage with stakeholders to elicit requirements, negotiate priorities, and resolve dependencies, including in international contexts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
  • Analytical mindset, with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in SAP Product Offerings is a plus, specifically experience with S/4HANA, S/4HANA PCE and IB
