What you'll do

As a Development Manager, you will build and lead an engineering team based in Brno that creates software used by 440,000+ customers and 200+ million users worldwide. You'll ensure customers, partners, and users get the benefits of a consistent user experience across all their touchpoints with the SAP ecosystem, while establishing Brno as a strategic engineering hub and leading the development of world-class engineering capabilities in this rapidly changing tech market.

Roles & Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development:

You will build and develop the engineering team in Brno, including responsibility for recruiting, onboarding, and retaining strong local engineering talent. You will manage the team's day-to-day work and support individual development through regular feedback, coaching, and development conversations.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across global locations to contribute to the development of the next generation of engineering talent. You will help align local ways of working with SAP's global engineering practices and establish a team environment that supports continuous learning and capability development.

You will also promote effective collaboration within the team and across distributed teams in Vietnam, India, Europe, and the U.S., and contribute to establishing clear structures, responsibilities, and working models that enable sustainable and efficient team performance.

Technical Excellence and Platform Ownership:

Together with your team, you will lead the development of UX Foundation AI features that grant millions of users access to a modern, state of the art User Experience. You will drive the technical direction for scalable, enterprise-grade solutions and ensure alignment with established standards and architecture.

You will provide hands-on technical guidance and support architectural decisions across the stack, working closely with backend and delivery teams to ensure smooth integration and reliable end-to-end execution.

In this role, you will establish and maintain engineering practices that ensure quality, maintainability, and reliability, and support the team in applying AI concepts in a pragmatic and sustainable way.

Business Impact and Strategic Planning:

The role focuses on planning and managing the delivery of features and improvements, with a strong emphasis on alignment with product priorities and stakeholder expectations. Clear priorities and structured execution support consistent, high-quality outcomes.

Collaboration with product and other stakeholders ensures that development efforts address relevant business needs, while ongoing process improvements help increase efficiency and predictability.

What you bring

Leadership Excellence:

  • 8+ years of software development experience with 3+ years in engineering leadership
  • Proven experience building and scaling engineering teams (10+ developers)
  • Strong people management skills (hiring, coaching & mentoring, performance management)
  • Experience leading a team within a distributed, global set-up with multiple time zones
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to balance technical depth with business and organisational goals
  • Strong team player

Technical Expertise:

  • Full-stack development with deep experience in modern web technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js)

  • Cloud platforms with hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP at enterprise scale
  • System architecture experience designing scalable, distributed systems
  • Experience delivering full-stack solutions across distributed architectures
  • Security & compliance knowledge of enterprise security requirements and practices
  • Strong interest in AI-driven development practices and an AI adoption mindset
  • Awareness of prompt design, context handling, and AI-assisted engineering workflows
  • Ability to critically assess and improve AI-generated outputs
  • Ability to implement CI/CD processes and automate software development, testing, and delivery
  • Experience with Fiori/UI5 development, including Fiori elements is a plus

Business Acumen:

  • Budget management experience managing development budgets and resource allocation
  • Delivery excellence with track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget
  • Stakeholder management ability to communicate effectively with business leaders and customers
  • Cultural intelligence understanding of working in multicultural, global environments
  • Metrics-driven experience using KPIs and metrics to drive team performance and improvement

The UX Foundation team in Brno is a collaborative and focused group of engineers working on the latest AI features. We are a relatively small team in a modern setup, which allows for close collaboration, direct communication, and a high degree of ownership.

The team works closely with colleagues across Silicon Valley, Vietnam, Dublin, and Germany, contributing to shared solutions and aligning on common standards. Knowledge sharing, mutual support, and a pragmatic approach to problem solving are central to how we work.

You will be part of an environment that values technical quality and clear thinking, while maintaining a supportive team culture. The role offers the opportunity to shape the team locally in Brno, while contributing to broader initiatives across SAP.
