Commercial Finance Specialist - Callidus Deals Desk

Purpose and Objective

The Callidus Deal Desk is part of the GCF Specialized Deal Support CoE which supports Concur, Callidus and OEM/MSP LoB’s. The Specialized Deal Support CoE is a critical pillar within the GCF Commercial CoE, which provides deal support for cloud deals. The team offers great learning and development opportunities and exposure to market leading cloud businesses.

The team provides direct or indirect support on topics such as pricing, revenue recognition, contracts, legal, Delegation of Authority etc.

The Commercial Finance Specialist supports cloud products such as Callidus from the early stages of the deal structuring through the setup of the deal in the system and the contract stage.

The major areas of responsibility are:

  • As part of the Global Specialized Deal Support CoE, you will serve as the trusted advisor providing value added advisory services to the field to drive deal structuring and provide directions and support to the Callidus Team in the early stages of the sales cycle to help them maximize value and minimize risks.
  • Lead deal support across multi-functional internal team, (Commercial Business-Partners, Rev Rec, Finance, Legal) on complex deal scenarios
  • As part of the Support team, assist the Callidus sales team as they execute the ‘Quote to Cash’ process.
  • This role would cover cloud deals, and the scope of coverage may span multiple regions. Apart from direct deal support, the role would also involve guiding other team members and teams as a Level 2 support member.

Expectations and Tasks

  • Support the activities of the GCF Specialized Deal Support CoE to maximize contract value, minimize booking/revenue recognition issues and facilitate rapid deal closure
  • Work with account teams on deal strategies that help meet customer needs
  • Strategize/brainstorm on optimum deal structures
  • Perform compliance checks
  • Analyze and provide creative recommendations on non-standard items
  • Liaise with key stakeholder groups e.g. commercial business partners to resolve key deal issues
  • Share best practices and lessons learned and leverage them for future enhancements
  • Assist in monitoring/preparing Deal Desk KPI reports
  • Review quote setup in Harmony to mirror the deal structure
  • Provide guidance at booking stage if needed
  • Drive commercial enablement efforts to upskill the sales team and commercial finance teams
  • Willingness and flexibility to support the business during periods of increased volume (such as quarter end)

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies

  • University degree in Commerce/Business from a secondary institution or comparable experience
  • Experience in either field sales or field sales support related roles
  • Prior experience with one or more solutions in SAP’s Cloud Solutions portfolio is a plus
  • Previous SAP Sales or Sales Operations Finance experience is preferred
  • Strong analytical capabilities and process thinking
  • Project management skills as an advantage
  • Proven ability to work in a virtual team environment
  • Decision making – Demonstrate accountability and commitment by preparing decision making process
  • Highly motivated, can-do attitude and result oriented
  • Strong team player experienced in working with virtual and international teams
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent in English, both written and verbal

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years as an Operations/Financial & Business analyst/Specialist
  • 5+ years of experience in a Deal Support/Contracting/Order Management function is an added advantage, highly desired
  • Prior field experience with SAP Cloud Solution Offerings
  • Experience in SAP’s CRM, Harmony, and other internal systems

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 69,800-152,300 (USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
