Associate Development Architect- SAP Enterprise Knowledge Graph
Job Description
We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
What you'll build
The SAP Global Content Group (GCG) Engineering team builds the SAP Enterprise Knowledge Graph (EKG) — integrating SAP's reference business data across products, processes, and business objects into a unified semantic layer. To create and maintain the EKG, we develop an internal platform that exposes the knowledge graph via data access APIs and AI-powered services, and powers a neuro-symbolic AI application that enables intelligent search, reasoning, and knowledge exploration across SAP's enterprise data.
As an Architect in our Content Infrastructure & Automation team based in India, you will be a hands-on technical leader shaping the design of our platform and contributing substantively to architecture decisions at the group level:
- Co-own architectural decisions for our knowledge graph platform and AI application authoring Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and technical specifications that guide implementation across the global team.
- Design scalable, cloud-native system components on Kubernetes and SAP's Business Technology Platform (BTP), establishing patterns and guardrails the engineering team builds on with confidence.
- Act as the technical anchor for the India-based engineering team providing architectural guidance, reviewing designs, and ensuring alignment with the overall system architecture.
- Participate actively in the GCG architecture group, contributing substantive input to architectural decisions and technical standards at the group level.
- Drive specification-led development: translate product and platform requirements into structured technical specifications that enable reliable, high-quality delivery.
- Contribute to the automation and AI-enablement of the knowledge graph platform to provide low-touch data-onboarding and graph construction.
- Shape the AI architecture of our neuro-symbolic endpoint and application — combining knowledge graph reasoning with semantic retrieval and large language model (LLM) integration to deliver explainable, high-precision results.
- Own and improve CI/CD, observability, and DevOps practices within your scope, designing pipelines and monitoring frameworks that ensure quality in production.
- Mentor engineers on architecture practices, cloud-native design patterns, and AI-native development.
What you bring
- Total of 10+ years of professional experience
- 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with demonstrated impact in architecture or technical lead roles within enterprise software organizations.
- Track record authoring ADRs, technical specifications, or equivalent design artifacts; ability to drive technical decisions across a team and communicate architectural thinking clearly to both engineers and stakeholders.
- Strong, hands-on expertise with cloud-native architectures on Kubernetes and modern CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions or equivalent); practical experience with observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, or similar).
- Solid understanding of knowledge graph or semantic web technologies (RDF, OWL, SPARQL) — or a strong motivation and demonstrable aptitude to develop this expertise rapidly.
- Experience designing or building AI-enabled systems: retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, LLM integration, semantic retrieval, or agentic workflows.
- Solid application security awareness — experience with secure development practices and vulnerability management.
- Advanced Proficiency in Python and TypeScript; familiarity with Java is an advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken English; ability to communicate architectural thinking clearly across a globally distributed team.
- B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science, Information technology, or a related field.
Where you belong
SAP Global Content Group (GCG) builds the Enterprise Knowledge Graph to unify SAP's business and system knowledge, delivering it via a platform and a neuro-symbolic AI application used across SAP and by external customers. This role is based in India — our India team is primarily located in Gurgaon — and works in close collaboration with architecture and engineering leadership in Germany. You will be an active voice in the GCG architecture group, shaping technical direction alongside senior architects and principal engineers across the globe.
