What to expect:
We are looking for an Senior Quantum Sales Director to join our Go-to-Market team at IonQ. In this role, you will be responsible for leading strategic sales growth across South Korea, developing high-value commercial and government opportunities, and helping customers understand how quantum computing can support next-generation computing, AI, HPC and secure infrastructure needs.
You’ll play an important part in shaping IonQ’s market presence in South Korea, building executive relationships and progressing complex, technically sophisticated opportunities that support our work in building the world’s most advanced quantum systems.
What you’ll be responsible for:
In this position, you will lead new-market creation and strategic sales activity across South Korea, working with enterprise customers, government organisations, research institutions, hyperscalers, AI labs, HPC centres and other strategic partners.
You’ll have the opportunity to establish IonQ as a trusted partner in quantum computing and next-generation infrastructure, contributing directly to long-term revenue growth, customer adoption and future market expansion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identify, develop and progress a robust pipeline of strategic commercial, government and research-led opportunities across South Korea.
- Own the full sales lifecycle, including opportunity qualification, technical discovery, proposal development, RFPs/tenders, negotiation and contract execution.
- Build and manage executive relationships with senior stakeholders across technology, infrastructure, research, government and national lab environments.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering and Customer Success to align customer needs with IonQ’s platform offering across quantum hardware, software, networking and applications.
Requirements
To be successful, you will need a strong track record in enterprise sales or business development within complex, high-tech environments, ideally involving infrastructure, hardware, advanced computing, cloud, AI, HPC, government or emerging technology solutions. We’re looking for someone who can open new markets, navigate multi-stakeholder buying environments, translate technical concepts into business value and close complex, high-value opportunities.
You’d be a great fit with:
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise sales, strategic account management or business development within complex technology markets.
- Proven experience closing multi-million-dollar deals, ideally involving infrastructure, hardware, advanced technology, cloud, AI, HPC, government or research-led customers.
- Strong ability to build executive relationships, manage complex sales cycles and influence technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Fluency in Korean and English, with strong cultural fluency and experience selling into the South Korean enterprise, government or research ecosystem.
We’re particularly interested in candidates who bring existing relationships and market credibility across South Korea’s enterprise technology, cloud, AI, HPC, government, defence, national research or academic ecosystems. Experience selling emerging or category-creating technologies would be highly valuable, especially where success depends on customer education, long-term partnership building and translating complex technical capability into clear strategic value.
Additional relevant experience may include:
- Familiarity with quantum computing, AI infrastructure, HPC environments, quantum networking, post-quantum cryptography or quantum-safe communications.
- Experience engaging senior technical and commercial stakeholders across government, research, cloud, infrastructure or advanced technology markets.
- A STEM background in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related technical discipline.
- Prior experience helping customers understand and adopt new computing architectures, advanced infrastructure platforms or other highly technical emerging technologies.
