About the role
At NFU Mutual, as a Senior Legal Counsel you will provide expert legal advice across the business, helping to protect the organisation’s interests and minimise legal risk. You will play a key role in supporting contract activity, advising stakeholders, and contributing to wider business initiatives.
This role sits within a collaborative legal team of around 12 colleagues. You will manage your own caseload and work independently, while partnering closely with procurement, operational risk, and stakeholders across the business.
Your primary focus will be advising business stakeholders on a wide range of commercial and legal matters, with a strong focus on drafting, negotiating, maintaining and renewing commercial contracts. You will also support governance activities, and help communicate regulatory changes across the organisation.
Alongside this, there may be opportunities to be involved in strategic change projects and broader transformation activity, including work linked to a project to implement technology to manage the end-to-end supplier lifecycle, including supplier selection, contracting and relationship management.
This is a fixed term opportunity for 12 months offering varied work, exposure to strategic initiatives and the ability to develop your expertise within a supportive team environment.
About you
You are a qualified legal professional with strong commercial contract expertise and the confidence to manage your own workload independently. You bring a practical and solutions focused approach, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different areas of the business.

- Proven experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and supplier agreements
- Strong legal advisory capability, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly to a range of stakeholders
- Experience working collaboratively with business teams, including procurement, or within project environments
- Effective stakeholder management, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels
- Must be admitted as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales Essential
