Job Description

We’re on a mission to provide equitable access to economic opportunity, for everyone.

We close critical skill gaps in the workforce through a new kind of apprenticeship that combines work and learning. We begin by recognizing high-potential individuals both inside and outside of a company's current workforce and then we create applied, guided and equitable learning programs, with measurable impact. Because we believe the world needs a better way to match its potential.

We work with over 1,500 leading companies including the likes of Microsoft, Citi and Just Eat to help solve their business-critical problems, and we’ve trained over 16,000 professional apprentices in the tech and data skills of the future. This is made possible by our global team who are driven to achieve a mission that matters, together.

Join Multiverse and help us set a new course for work.

The Opportunity

We're continuing a phase of rapid growth and innovation and are working to ensure that the Finance Department is ready to support Multiverse in this exciting stage of growth. This includes enhancing our ability to support departments with financial management, analysis, and general partnership to ensure they scale efficiently.

The Strategic Finance team operates in three main areas:

  1. Business partnering with key departments: driving analysis that supports key strategic and organisational decisions, bringing clarity to the financial impact of day-to-day decisions and activities, and helping optimise all aspects of financial management.

  2. Strategic and Operational Analysis: Working across the organisation to gather data and produce and distribute regular analysis of KPIs, setting targets and identifying areas of potential improvement, while supporting business development with analysis

  3. Pricing, Profitability, and External Growth: Drive analysis and be the ultimate approver of pricing and structuring of new products, partnerships, and initiatives, ensuring growth with the right unit economics

This is a high-visibility position reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial Strategic Finance. You will interact regularly with senior leadership of other departments to provide a financial perspective on key decisions, agree on methods and types of data sharing, and agree on the types of financial as well as operational analysis you will be conducting with them. One of your primary responsibilities will be to ensure the preparation and regular dissemination of analysis information that is crucial to the business’s ability to monitor its performance and make strategic and operational decisions. You will also provide the analytical and planning to support Departments’ needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Create highly functional partnerships with key departments in order to facilitate data flow, analysis, and cross-departmental collaboration aimed at enhancing MVs ability to draw conclusions from and take actions on the basis of real-time data

  • Become the effective CFO of your department to help them better understand everything from financial and strategic planning to regular monitoring of performance versus financial targets

  • Leverage your position to acquire a deep understanding of business drivers to inform the setting of KPI targets, undertake further analysis, and make recommendations to help drive growth and profitability.

  • Work with the Senior Director of Strategic Finance to develop and produce regular reports to the C-Suite and other senior leaders on business performance, financial and operational health, and forecast updates.

  • Review proposals for new areas of expenditure, review the research underlying them, and conduct appropriate financial analysis for the purposes of providing the Finance Team’s recommendation on potential changes and whether the proposals should be approved

  • Support other senior leaders in the development, structuring, and negotiation of large contracts and/or strategic partnerships

  • Identify areas of improvement in financial reporting and record-keeping and ensure a consistent flow of accurate financial information and KPIs to the SLT and C-Suite

  • Strong hustle - with no aversion to 'rolling up your sleeves and solving immediate business problems and projects

  • Partner with the Accounting team to align reporting calendars in a way that permits a consistent flow of financial and KPI reporting to the business

About you:

  • Background: Audit or Consulting plus 2-3 years of experience as a business partner or in FP&A, ideally in high-growth start-up/scale-up environments. A functional knowledge of accounting is also essential.

  • Data Analysis Skills: Exceptional at working with large data sets, drawing conclusions, and presenting ideas convincingly; with the ability to work at pace.

  • Strategic and Operational Analysis: Quick to identify improvement areas with strong communication skills to persuade stakeholders.

  • Operational Decision Making: Experience using analysis to drive measurable changes in financial or operational performance. You have experience using analysis to inform operational decisions that have made measurable changes in the financial and/or operational performance of companies.

  • Stakeholder Management: Proven track record of gaining and maintaining trust from key stakeholders across functions

  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel; Python and SQL knowledge is a plus.

  • Team Player and Self-Starter: Thrives in high-growth, fast-paced environments, with minimal supervision, a strong work ethic, and ambition.

Benefits

  • Time off - 27 days holiday, plus 7 additional days off: 1 life event day, 2 volunteer days and 4 company-wide wellbeing days
