We’re looking for a Technical Director – Energy to lead the technical strategy, innovation, and execution of energy-related projects. This is a senior leadership role that offers the chance to shape the future of energy infrastructure while contributing to career-defining projects that create essential social outcomes.

Job Profile

As a key member of our leadership team, you will:

  • Lead and nurture 5–6 client accounts for corporate advisory services, achieving or exceeding net revenue targets.
  • Influence and advise clients on robust infrastructure solutions that align with their strategic goals.
  • Establish long-term client relationships and secure consultancy work across advisory, PPCM, PMC, engineering, and development portfolios.
  • Ensure delivery excellence and innovation across all projects, reinforcing our reputation for quality and credibility.
  • Provide strategic oversight and assurance across the vertical, ensuring timely interventions and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Define and implement the business plan and roadmap for energy projects.
  • Align technical solutions with business objectives and sustainability goals.
  • Track the prospects pipeline and prepare winning strategies, including early positioning.
  • Drive the bidding process, ensuring technically and commercially sound proposals.

Project Development & Execution

  • Oversee technical aspects of project development, including feasibility studies, detailed reports, procurement, and commissioning.

Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and lead multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Mentor engineers and project managers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
  • Represent Mott MacDonald in professional circles through thought leadership and networking.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to shape our market strategy and client offerings.

Operational Excellence

  • Optimize energy asset performance using data-driven insights.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical challenges.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • 15+ years in the Energy Sector, including project development, engineering, consultancy, or operations.
  • Proven leadership in large-scale energy projects (solar, wind, hydrogen, grid modernization).
  • Understanding of finance and core engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with carbon markets, ESG reporting, and climate risk frameworks.
  • Strong business development and project management skills.
  • Graduate degree in engineering and a postgraduate degree in business or finance.
  • Willingness to travel within and outside India.
  • Fluency in English with excellent communication and report writing skills.
