Mott MacDonald New Zealand

Mott MacDonald is a global engineering, management, and development consultancy focused on improving society through the work we do. In New Zealand, our teams deliver infrastructure that supports communities, enables growth, and protects the environment.

Our Electrical and Industrial team works across water, wastewater, and industrial projects, providing electrical, control, and SCADA services. We offer a supportive environment where early‑career engineers can build strong foundations and grow their capability.

The role – what you’ll do

As a intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will support project teams while developing your technical skills through hands‑on project experience and mentoring.

You will:

  • Assist with electrical design, documentation, and specifications
  • Support senior engineers across water and industrial projects
  • Contribute to calculations, drawings, and reports
  • Participate in site visits and project meetings
  • Learn how to apply quality, safety, and risk management in practice
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across locations

Projects may include water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, industrial facilities, and control and telemetry systems.

This role is based in Auckland.

You are an early‑career electrical engineer who is curious, motivated, and keen to learn.

You will bring:

  • An interest in infrastructure, industrial, or water projects
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Clear communication and a willingness to ask questions
  • A collaborative approach aligned with our values

Previous industry experience is helpful but not essential.

  • Exposure to real projects that make a difference
  • Support for ongoing learning and professional accreditation
  • Flexible working options and competitive benefits
  • A welcoming, inclusive, employee‑owned culture
