Principal Electrical Engineer – EICA

Our Electrical and Industrial team supports major water, wastewater, and industrial projects, providing electrical engineering, control systems, and SCADA expertise. We work closely with clients and partners to deliver safe, reliable, and future‑focused solutions.
The role – what you’ll do
As a Principal Electrical Engineer (EICA), you will provide technical leadership and project oversight while supporting the development of our people and client relationships.
You will:
- Lead and review electrical design across complex infrastructure and industrial projects
- Act as a senior technical authority within project teams
- Support and mentor engineers across multiple grades
- Take responsibility for project delivery, quality, and risk management
- Build trusted relationships with clients and contribute to winning work
- Collaborate across disciplines and locations using Mott MacDonald’s global network
Typical projects include water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, chemical dosing systems, industrial facilities, and associated control and SCADA systems.
This role is based in Auckland, working closely with teams across the region.
About you
You are an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys applying deep technical knowledge while supporting others to grow.
You will bring:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering
- Strong experience in industrial or infrastructure environments
- Consultancy experience (preferred)
- The ability to lead technical delivery and review others’ work
- Well‑developed communication and stakeholder management skills
